Mother of god, I’m in the #860's. Looks like I *might *have a pack for the 50th anniversary!
And by then you’ll have paid $2k in parts and another $1k in shipping. I get it, pre-orders suck – but really wish there was a ‘hold’ option to pay for the parts and have it all shipped out at once. Not a fan of this drip-by-drip approach.

Unfortunately that’s often the way with projects like these because the people spearheading them don’t have the bankroll behind them that companies like Hasbro or Mattel have at their disposal.
Usually projects like these go one of two ways: Either you can have a cheaply, mass produced item (but at the expense of the quality and execution), or you can have an excellent piece that’s been meticulously developed, but it’s gonna be a bit on the pricey side, and you’ll have to wait a little longer for it.
What’s sad is that we’ve seen a working example of a company going from the meticulous approach to “meh, it’s good enough”. MattyCollector knocked the ball out of the park with their P.K.E. Meter replica, but by the time they released the Ecto-Goggles, they were making a lot of compromises.
Really wanted to build this pack to be ready for November. I may be looking to other solutions unless a wave of parts arrives by July…
My concern, and I want this to be unfounded, is that the project will fold long before all parts are available and/or waitlists satisfied. I’d plunk down the coin today for the whole shebang if this was deadline driven. But I can’t in good financial sense begin a piecemeal endeavor for parts with poor availability from day 1 on staggered releases and hope for the best as this might or might not string along for the next X years.
900+ waitlist right now for the shell, and we’re ~4 months away from a 1-year announcement anniversary? Most of the major components including electronics still TBD? I don’t have 5 years of patience for the chance to end up getting sued by every city, county, and state agency in New York.
New release for Ghostbusters Day!!!
For those that ordered the bumper, anyone get a shipment notification yet? It was supposed to be mid-June. Not complaining, just curious.
I also pre-ordered the day they were posted. I have not received a shipment notification yet either. They have been pretty good about shipping as soon as they are available.
I am just waiting for my spot for the idealized shell to come up. I’ll probably also get on the list for the legacy shell as well. I sent an email to see if there was an idea around when the next run of idealized shells was going to be but I haven’t gotten a response yet.
I got my bumper shipping notification today.
I’m loving the bumper, it’s a great piece, but I’m starting to wonder about how long it’s going to take to get the shell. From what I’ve seen, not many people have been announcing they’ve gotten theirs, outside of a couple of YouTubers and a few lucky folks on FB. Has anyone actually gotten it yet to talk about it? Now we’ve got the legacy pack coming soon, which I don’t really want, but will only add to the waiting process if they are now offering two different versions.
I received my shell a couple months back, but I also had a 30-something spot on the waitlist. My bumper should be arriving tomorrow as well.
Oh, dear, I’m well into the 100’s on the waitlist. Looks like I’ll be waiting a long time. I guess it’s not so bad if it’s a high quality piece. I hope I can have it built by 2022.
How is the shell?
It’s solid. A great idealized version, as others have said. I don’t have too much else to add. The finish on the inside is a nice touch. Curious to see when the mobo is released, or open for order.
Woof, this explains the shell delays. I’m glad they were able to pivot and are mostly out of the woods, but that really sucks. Though, their strict adherence to quality has made me feel a lot better about committing to a Mack’s build.
Looks like the Booster Frame (PP112) & legacy counterpart will be available soon-ish, too.
Mack’s put out the call for reference photos/measurements of vintage Legris elbows last week, looks like they’re working with a plastics manufacturer but trying to work out whether some of the “defects” are how they were originally or if they’re a byproduct of their age.
That’s a really good sign, I may have to buy a set for my 3D printed pack (depending on cost).
Whoohoo!!! I’m number 956 out of 956!
While the quality looks great I seriously hope we don’t have to wait another year but that kinda seems like the direction things are going in. I have a back up plan/ pack, but the Mack’s version looks so much cleaner than the one I bought two years ago.
Yeah, that’s going to be a multi-year wait.
Edit: Sorry – that comes across more negatively than I wished. I’m just disappointed in the really slow rollout… but happy to be on the list and looking forward to eventually building a Mack Pack.
Total noob here, but wanting to build my first pack and love the idea of the Mack build. Especially since it is being billed as somewhat easier for people like me who are not as handy…my question is, is there any kind of ballpark on the finished price? I share the same concerns as other users here in terms of the timeline being unknown, but I am also curious if this is going to cost $4k when it’s finished. Really hard to commit to something when you have no idea what the final price will be. Thanks, gang. Looking forward to participating in the community going forward.
Short answer, no. Many of the parts haven’t been manufactured yet, so unless Arron or Ron (who run Mack’s) chip in, anyone else would be guessing as to the final price.
I was worried that was the case. Thanks for the reply!
