Hello peoples of the internets. I bring you good holiday wishes… and a fun little treat for you all.

So, your awesome proton pack has a Crix sound board or a replica props sound chip? It’s awesome, isn’t it? But… the Ghostbusters theme song is kinda getting old, right? Hey, I love it, you love it, we all love it… but, it gets a little old when it’s the only song you have in your pack. Sucks, I know.

But hey! Good news! You have an MP3 player! You also have an amp in that proton pack of yours. Wish you could combine the two? You totally friggin can. Things you’re gonna need:

1 amp and speaker (you… you probably have these already)

some lengths of wire

solder and a soldering iron

male-male stereo cable

Now, in that picture, you’ll see 3 leads. the one near the audio plug is your negative, the other two are your left and right outs. Now, unless you have a stereo amp, keeping track of these isn’t an issue. Solder wire to the left and right audio leads and run them to your amp’s WIN, same as the sound board. Then run the negative to the negative on your amp. Make sure your connections are SOLID or you’re gonna get a lot of buzzing and low volume. Finally, take that male/male stereo cable, plug it in to your new audio jack and your MP3 player. Enjoy your new tunes!

Now, the only issue I’ve come across is that you really can’t run both the MP3 player and the sound chip at the same time… or have sound and music playing at the same time as one will be dominant over the other. At least that’s the problem I have with my Crix sound board. A very, VERY minor issue in my eyes :slight_smile:

hey your sound kit sounds awesome. i also have the crix sound kit, but i was wondering what kind of amp and speaker set up you are using cause i am having some sound issues with mine and it sounds like ■■■■ when turned up more that 1/3 the way.

Way ahead of you on this one. I’ve been implementing this on my pack, tested it a few months ago, just haven’t entirely installed it yet. Kudos!

Nice :wink: a couple friends saw what I did and want me to now implement the same thing into their packs… they just aren’t keen on the added weight of the batteries. lol

  1. Did you desolder the pot off the amp board, extend the wires, and use the pot with the crank knob?

  2. Why cant you solder the wire off the jack, to the WIN of the board? Canakit instructions say you can hook up a Walkman to the WIN pinout.
