Thats what people keep telling me. I get at least one phone call a week from random friends who know I’m a GB nut telling me that they heard GB3 was being filmed. They call all excited telling me that they KNOW FOR A FACT its in production right now. Every time someone tells me this, I have to go through and explain that it is all rumors. This is how the conversations go:
Friend: Hey man! They are making a new Ghostbusters movie! Did you know that?!?!?!?
Me: No they are not.
Friend: Uhhhh..Yeah they are. Seth Rogan is directing it. AND…all the original cast is going to be in it!
Me: No…Rogan is not directing it, and the original cast is not going to be in it, because its not being made right now.
Friend: Ya-hu. I looked it up on the internet.
Me: First off…even if they were going to make it, Seth Rogan even said it was a rumor that he was going to direct it. Also, Bill Murray did not say he would be in a third installation. He said a part three was a good idea, but did not say he would participate. The internet can tell you anything because any ■■■■■■■ can write whatever he/she wants on it.
Friend: I still dont believe you.
At that point I usually have to get into it with them and go through a 10 minute conversation on rumors that they’ve heard and prove that the movie is not being made at this time.
Anyone else experience this? I almost feel bad telling my friends this because they are soooooo excited when they call me, because they know I’m a huge Ghostbusters fan.
Oh yeah I’ve experienced it too. Once at a party (after Rogen said GB3 was “like, the worst idea ever”) this chick was trying to explain to me that she was ■■■■■■ at Rogen because he turned down a role in GB3. I tried to explain that the movie is far from production and that nobody has even been offered a role in the film, but she wasn’t having it. :sigh:
if only our friends knew half the saga that is developmental hell. I got it a few times recently after Dan’s radio thing, someone said “just thought I’d let you know” haha and someone asked me “are they making it now?” I told someone about the new recruits idea, and they didn’t like that really.
I think it’s somewhat safe to say that the potential 3rd film is slowly coming out of “development hell”.
Just me though.
EDIT: And I have a strong feeling that over the last 3 years, the studio didn’t want to compete with Transformers 1 and 2. Now that both movies are out of the way, it’s a perfect time to get started on GBIII. I know you can get stoned for that kind of talk around here tho.
