I just woke up from a dream that lasted all night.
The dream was about this trap.
That I spent all this time doing research on it n that I found out it wasn’t the real deal, n then I drove out to see the trap in person n found out that it was a fake n that the guy had bought it off videoblob who had recasted it…
It was a crazy dream, n I just woke up thinking “wtf”.

Yeah, the seller is clueless. Even if he did work on the film and there may have been some point durring filming that a trap was pulled along by a string for some reason, nothing on the trap was specifically designed for that purpose. Fans almost always know more about stuff than the people that worked on it, we care more than people that were just there for a paycheck.
Being a “fabucater” on a film does not mean you get close to the set to see how it is used. It’s even possible that this guy made off with this prop and is not entitled to own or sell it.
Well it did look like it could have been the real deal. I had a few more interactions with him, and he was not very friendly (at least to me) and definitely didn’t like being questioned. He made more claims but didn’t back any of them up with any proof. As a collector I would find it hard to purchase an item for that kind of money without some kind of proof or back story to investigate. I hope if he did sell it, it went to someone that loves ghostbusters as much as the rest of us and will take care of it. It would have been cool if one of us got it and took more pictures or dissected it. You can never have too much reference material.
