Other Paranormal References

I have been thinking that the guys would have had other books on hand in addition to Tobin’s Spirit Guide and Spates Catalogue. Here are two books I have found so far that I think they would have had handy.

There are a few more books I have my eye on that I will be collecting over time. Does anyone have any suggested references?

I keep a book on cryptids in my gear

If you’re looking to expand your paranormal reference, here is a great book list:

I was able to get a vintage copy of this book for a very reasonable price, usually they are quite expensive. The mass paperback is readily available cheaply. Nonetheless a worthy reference.

These real life old books (1904 and 1875) were used to compile the screen used Tobin’s Spirit guide:

*“They had no fire and sent two messengers, Kuratje and Kanmari, towards the east”

*

*"Prometheus (a son of the Titan Japetos), who had previously identified himself with

the cause of humanity in a dispute that arose at Mekone

(Sikyon) as to the rightful share of the gods in all sacrifices

offered to them."*

The books are >100 years old so are public domain now. 1070 pages total. These are the books Ray Stantz would be reading 24/7 if he existed.

Well he does, Dan Aykroyd is basically Ray Stantz.

Got the first one! :vinzclortho:

Here is one more shot of the previous page that is legible.

Awesome!! Where on Earth did you find those 100 year old books?

I believe one of them is 3 volumes (the second one I linked and they used on screen), it’s crazy. like 2100 pages on the occult.

WHats even weirder is that Dan Aykroys probably knows a good fraction of those by heart. The man IS Dr. Ray Stantz.

The “Manual of Mythology” is a reprint dated 1954.

I am still looking for a vintage version of the other book, although modern reprints are readily available.

I needed to keep my place in my various books so I made these super handy bookmarks.

Oh I like that, don’t suppose those are up for sale somewhere?

I can put some up on Etsy, I need to figure out the best shipping packaging first though.

I have this bookmark and another as part of a set. I just listed it today on Etsy, I am Engine 23 Props.

Fun find, although not featured on screen that I am aware of, this would have definitely been in the Firehouse or at Ray’s Occult. The book is not easy to find at a reasonable price, so if you’re looking - good luck!

I was also able to find the same book dated for 1989 at a reasonable price so that one will also join the collection.
