Paper Props....

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for paper props either for sale or display. I am with the Alberta Ghostbusters and we have an event coming up at the end of April. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There’s a thread at the RPF with some possible Ghostbusters paper props… letterheads and invoices and business cards, that sort of thing.

But I think you have to be a member to view the paper props. And even then, there’s like a three-month waiting period before you can view paper props, because they had a bad experience of posting free paper props for everyone to enjoy, then some unscrupulous folks were taking the files and selling printouts on eBay.

Actually, I just browsed the thread, and sad to say most of it looks pretty pixelly and grainy and would need to be cleaned up prior to printing, so I think you’d be better off just making your own items and having fun with it. On the couple of invoices that look nice and clean because someone re-drew them digitally, there are typos. Sigh.

So, yeah, I say be creative. There’s lots of stuff in the movie to take inspiration from.

My friend Smits did some scaled-down paper props for a custom 12" Janine dolls she made, and they were really fun and inventive. She even found the correct People magazine that Janine is reading, the copy with Cher on the cover, and made a miniature version of it.

I can’t find her album at the moment, but here’s one I saved to my FB page. She even made the scale staples and paperclips herself, if memory serves, and folded together little Chinese takeout boxes and gave them wire handles.

At least now I have a starting point. Thanks for the advise.
