Paranormal Research Center [FE] Lab Props

While I continue looking for inspiration for my “lab equipment” props for events (see my thread here), I’ve been looking into the various background props at the Paranormal Research Center in Frozen Empire.

Now that I can actually take good screenshots in 4K I was able to find this one pretty easily, it’s the control panel for the Ionic Separator which features in several closeups:

It’s a rented prop from Electro Props UK:

I’m assuming they provided many other props for production, similar to how Modern Props LA provided a lot of background props for GB2.

It looks like production may have made a few minor changes to it for filming.

They have hundreds of props cataloged in their website, so I’ll have to find some time to go through it and see what else I might recognise.

One that did immediately jump out at me is a Narda 8616: https://www.electroprops.co.uk/props/handheld-em-field-detector-geiger-counter-P1655.html

Could this be the actual same prop that Lars uses? It’s a possibility, but I haven’t been able to screen match the film prop to their photo (there’s some differences in labels/stickets but all of this could have been changed in the years since the website photo was taken).

I wonder if one of these is behind Venkman in his office?

Still, interesting stuff and should provide lots of inspiration!

The Narda 8616 is exactly what Pinfield uses. Not sure of the exact probe though, possibly a 8721. I’ve made a replica probe on this thread: https://www.gbfans.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=52023

I’m not sure its the exact one because of the stickers on the side not visible in the on-screen one and also the probe holder looks bolted on I doubt they’d allow a hole to be drilled in a rented prop.

Thats a BBC Micro above the console as well.

This was used on the ionic separator too.

Chart recorder from Venkman’s office:

(Looks like some of the panels have been swapped out for blanks)

Also this warning lamp:

Also, my first post may have been slightly incorrect.

THIS seems to be the actual Ionic Separator control console:

As an aside, they have a large tub of ribbon cables. Looks to be plenty of Spectra in there. Hard to get a good count though.

Also plenty of equipment that was used for other films. Interesting guessing game

The vintage Sony TV in the possessor’s cage?

Weird gadget beside the card reader next to the main door (as seen in the YHS behind the scenes video, but only seen for a few seconds in the film):
