Possible wand palm light cover alternative

Towards the end of finishing up my second pack. One of my goals was to cut down on cost, build a cheaper pack cost-wise, and make use of some parts I had left over from my first build. So far, so good. Then came the issue of what to use for the cover of the light close to the palm rest on the front of the gun body. Most people use white hat light caps, but being without one, I looked for other, cheaper options, and found this:

The original part on the left, cropped part on the right. And it on the wand(still in progress):

Looks good to me.

Its called a windshield wiper linkage coupling, which I found in a 2 pack at a local O’Reilly auto parts for a few bucks. Was hoping to post pics of the packaging, but, in all honesty, my dog decided to pull it off my table and eat most of it. :walterpeck:

Just an option in case someone is looking for one.

Or get those tattoo ink cups.

they come in various sizes.

Like I said, just another alternative.

And I could be wrong, but the screen caps make it seem alot flatter then a hat light cap.

Could just be the angle though.

Yeah, perspective/foreshortening is pretty crazy.

Thanks for all your sarcasm. Very useful.

Uh…what sarcasm? I agree that certain perspectives given are hard to tell what sizes are certain objects.

:whatever:

ive been keeping an eye on this thread, and i didnt see any sarcasm.

i want you to do a walk through to trim it down, i can see how it’s done, but some pics of making one would help other people. trust me, it would help lots of people.

Used a tattoo light cap (since I have literally thousands of them) on mine, but instead of sticking it right on top, I made the hole larger and placed the cap INSIDE the box, sticking out from inside, and voila, it’s a little flatter!

Nevermind. Just trying to post something simple.

Uuuhhh? Proton Charger asked you to post how you exactly made it, rather, cropped it for your pack.

You could help some people with this item buddy, don’t be such a downer.

I just used a 10mm LED and shaved the top flat.

then used some sandpaper to create a haze over it.

Used a Linrose pilot light on mine (model #B2990D4).

i guess i’ll have to steal gbstantz’s idea and do a walk through like i asked him to do.

thanks in advance for all your glory pal.

well that was quick.

here’s what he’s talking about in the package for 5 bucks at advance autoparts

see that urine yellow covered one on the top left of the first picture? that’s what specifically gbstantz is talking about. there’s only 2 of them in the package, you need 3 hatlights. im sure you notice all that other junk in there too.

this idea is not cost effective considering what it will take to alter them to make them look like hat lights, and the rest of the stuff you’ll be left with when you buy 2 packs to make 3. if it were a pack full of just that specific kind? yeah, 5 bucks is ok.

lets try those tattoo ink cups.

Tattoo ink cups are too big.

These actually look pretty close, but they look way too big.

They actually came in a 2 pack, as stated in my original post. They cost about $2.50.

And whats the point of doing a “walkthrough” if the tattoo cup apparently makes it obsolete and they’re “urine yellow” anyway? You knock down my idea, and then demand I do a walkthrough of cutting it in half?

I made a mistake jumping on someone for what I took as sarcasm, and thats my fault, but so many people are sarcastic and condescending to new suggestions, its hard to tell the difference sometimes.

Done.

i didnt demand a walk through after i told you it wouldnt work.

you pull sarcasm out of genuine comments for more information from you, and then make up something that wasnt there. do you have reading comprehension problems?
