I dont know about you cats, but next year is going to be a great year (fingers crossed) for film. With the likes of: The Hobbit and The Dark Knight Rises one can only giggle with glee in anticipation. But the one film I truly look forward to, only because I’m biased towards it, is Prometheus:
Originally slated to be a prequel to Alien, it has since evolved into something (supposedly) much more. I for one am a huge fan of the Alien Series. (excluding of course the AvP ■■■■ and I tend to not acknowledge the fact Alien Resurrection exists) Granted its not a “prequel” it still has ties to the first film with the obvious cut scenes of the Space Jockey Skull/head and its/their space craft. Also, all of main characters equipment is slapped with “Weyland” logos.
Originally I hated Ressurection. Then, years later, I found out it was co-wrote by Joss Wedon (which is why the Betty’s crew seemed so familliar) and now I find it tollerable if you ignore most of the plot.
Prometheus has the potential to be interesting what with the space jockey and all, so long as they don’t screw it up.
First and Second films are by far my favorite, the third I somewhat hold onto, as it was a Fincher film, until the producers dragged him and it over the coals.
i really dont know what to make of it. i dont have anything good to say about it, and i dont have anything bad to say about it either.
to me it doesnt look like it fit’s in with the rest of them, even if we’re meeting the race that created the xenomorphs as a bio weapon, and that’s what the humans have been trying to do since alien.
as for my favorites, aliens is the best. #3 is the weakest, i havent seen all of resurrection, but so far, it’s equally as bad as 3.
Which is where I think Ridley is trying to take it. Its not so much as a prequel as it is a tie in. Instead a movie solely about the “xenomorph” its more so about the Space Jockey/s. which is totally cool with me. In fact I prefer it that way as I think they’ve slaughtered the Alien franchise to death.
