Has anybody noticed that since the Nerf Maverick has become so popular with the prop hobbyists that the price has gone up? I used to be able to grab these guys for around $6 and then only spend a few more dollars to Steampunk them. Now they’re up to around $10 or $11 at most places. I do love the proton pistol idea by the way. Very pretty build. The wrapped wires around the inner cylinder really do it for me. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I noticed the Nerf prices slowly climbing, especially on the Mavericks. I don’t know if it’s so much Nerf increasing the price because of hobbyists but it’s interesting to speculate because I’m sure Nerf is aware of the community who modify and customize their guns. The first thing I dremel off is the embossed “warning: do not modify” 
I don’t have a fact sheet to back this up, but my guess would be hobbyists make up a very small percentage of their total sales.
I would wager it has more to do with the cost of the raw materials + transportation cost + wanting more profit in a market willing to pay more for the product.
