Anyone have suggestions for attaching the top-shelf pack components (crank case, gun mount, power cell, etc.) to the motherboard? My plan was to first bolt the backsides of those parts to the motherboard, then glue the components to the backsides. I’m using styrene.
I would glue all the pack pieces together then bolt them to the motherboard. That’s how I did it and I think it’s the best way, black and white, pack on, pack off.

For SUPER strength there’s this epoxy glue called “Plastic Weld”, the stuff is STRONG…the pack might break into a 1000 little pieces, but those spots with the glue will last forever lol

Are we talking bolts or screws. That’s part of my problem. If you seal up a component on all sides, how do you attach the nut?
I would suggest gluing mounting blocks (you can get 3/4 inch square moulding at Lowes or Home Depot for pretty cheap) inside the upper components and screwing into them from the back side of the motherboard. That will allow you to remove them if you want to add electronics or update/change things later.

i took L brackets, put a bolt in one end then put a liberal amount of JB weld on it… ya know what, i’ll just post a pic later so it is easier to understand
Assuming your components will be open on the backside, bolt all your componets together first, fill/clean up the seams, then attach the finished pack shell to the motherboard with L-brackets.
Keoni is right, L-brackets are THE way.
Take a look at how the screen used pack is mounted…

Notice the 4 L-brackets attached to the motherboard.
Again, assuming your shell is open on the backside and you can do it this way, the pack shell would rest on the motherboard so that the vertical portion of the brackets touch the inside edge of the shell. Machine screws would then go through the outside shell and into the bracket to hold it toghether.

That picture is of a screen used pack!? Or is that just the STYLE of the screen used pack?
That’s how mine is but i’ve seen that picture before and didn’t know it was a ‘screen used’ pack.

to part 1!!! I thought on the GB 2 packs there were three screws behind the powercell holding the LED board…
On this pack, the led board was held to the side of the shell with 2 screws …
But I know exactly what you’re saying, I have no idea why there were 3 screws on the backside motherboard. :?

LoL WOW, that’s a mess!! Crazy how far technology has come man! So that’s a GB two pack then ey? Crazy! I ALWAYS wondered what the inside of the packs looked like. And now, I know…and knowing is half the battle…
