So you have a massive gathering of Ghostheads with costumes and props a plenty. You’re in a hotel/ convention hall environment. You have a desire to make a film to show the world how fun said Ghostheads can be and this is the best you can come up with?
Maybe you should watch the other videos too…
I did, and there was nothing special about them, just typical fan fare convention shots of you guys standing around playing with yourselves. No crowd interaction with other event goers, no bringing fun and laughter to the people at the event besides yourselves, and not a shred of originality.
Then when you do get a creative spark you blow it on this piece of drivel for the sake of getting under the skin of a fellow member. I’m sorry, but all I see is wasted potential for making a video for all Ghostheads and not just yourselves. Your spiteful and idiotic behaviour sours any genuine fun your videos may have garnished. Your videos make Trekkies look dignified and sophisticated in comparison.
Before you go insulting people, you should read more carefully.
And the video was never made to get under the skin of a member. This was something we had fun doing and enjoyed. There are more videos coming, including ones of us interacting with others.
But I guess it’s more fun to stand on a soap box and insult everyone?
So you were at Dragon Con too? You were there for all 4 days to witness everything that happened? Oh and you were also on hand to help plan ghostbusters related event after event for all 4 days? Then I would understand your disdain for what has come out so far.
But if you weren’t, and you are basing your opinion on 2 short videos: one made as a preview montage of a fraction of what happened at the convention, and another video made by a group of friends reenacting an internet meme; then you really are short sighted. Instead of insulting others, you should have been inquiring as to what else there is to offer in terms of video footage from Dragon Con. There was a parade, a PKE Surge dinner, and a group event on Sunday of the convention. Some footage of these events can be seen in the preview montage (hence it being a PREVIEW), and I’m sure there are some very talented individuals working on producing high quality videos of these fan events.
And honestly, if you aren’t happy with what is produced from the event, why not help to make it better? Instead you decide to demean those that went out of their way to go to this convention from across the country and got to enjoy the company of like minded fans of one of their favorite films.
I have never seen PVJ say anything positive about anything ever. He comes here to complain and take out his personal issues on the forum (which he has admitted to before). All the atendees of Dragon*Con had fun, and we all know this. PVJ is just here to ■■■■ on all of that. Please whatever you do, don’t upload footage of the parade. He will just complain about that. He will just complain about all the hard work that those who planned events, filmed the footage and edited it together did.
PVJ IS NOT AMUSED.
Any news about Ghostheads? Maybe he’ll like that. ![]()

Excuse me? I don’t think so. Nice try though.
I have had plenty of positive things to say on the boards, there are lots of great works on this site and I show support for those. This just isn’t one of them. This one I wouldn’t show to any of my friends because of how embarrassing it is.
It’s no big deal
You don’t need a big budget, superior lighting and camera equipment and a crew of 30 or more people. You don’t need to hire, a bunch of actors, grips, property masters and a costuming dept to make a decent fan film. You only need a few people who are genuinely passionate about film and can work well together. I think ROTGB is a perfect example of just how having a budget and the glossy equipment, paid actors and all the right ingredients is no guarantee you will have a good film. It was horribly painful to watch. I know many of the guys here absolutely love it, but I can’t stand it. On the other hand, the most of the clips that the GBTV guys have been doing are pretty enjoyable and infinitely lower budget. As an example.
So in short; glossy does NOT always equal better. You still need creativity, a good idea and heart and some talent. With out those you can follow all the film school dribble you want with access to all the equipment, actors, crew and gear in the world and a budget and your film can still suck.
And by the way, originally I was commenting on how you felt this thread was a huge face palm. There are many more useless threads about a number of completely useless, embarrassing, masturbatory flotsam that are much more deserving of a face palm than wanting to discuss how it is possible for the fan community to try and raise the bar of the fan film and make something better than the precious Return of the Ghostbusters.
Hmmm… I just had a thought… how many of the complaints actually came from people who attended Dragoncon and PKE surge?
Maybe they just felt left out of all the fun we had, and were jealous?
I don’t get it the way everyone is either crying about it, or overjoyed. It was funny, and basically a teaser video. While I’m known for my fanboyism and my serious nature, I have to admit one thing… **This whole damn franchise we call Ghostbusters is based on a Comedy film which is something your suppose to laugh at and enjoy. Stop making Ghostbusters the next Star Wars/Star Trek. **
Ok, now wheres the soap in this place?! ![]()
Well, speaking only for myself, the video showed me how much fun you can have at the convention despite the lack of jell-o.
No crowd interaction with other event goers, no bringing fun and laughter to the people at the event besides yourselves,
I’m sorry I can’t hear you over having fun with kids outside of the convention.
Guys, we’ll never be on PVJ’s level of intellect or sophistication.
Stop arguing with him or trying to justify your actions. It’s only making us look terrible. TERRIBLE. I, for one, am embarrassed to have been a part of Dragon*Con and PKE Surge now that a homophobe has come out of the woodwork and insulted us.
You should all be ashamed of yourselves for having fun with each other rather than ignoring your good friends for the sake of interacting with the outside world. You should be ASHAMED for daring to make some jokes that don’t meet a high standard of quality (totally unlike, say, a candy bar masquerading as a floating turd; that’s high brow), and you should be ASHAMED for having the gall to post videos of your asinine “fun.”
Thank you, PVJ, for being a beacon of wisdom and refinement for all of us lowly imbeciles. Your grace and majesty are truly and well appreciated.
Thank you, PVJ, for being a beacon of wisdom and refinement for all of us lowly imbeciles.
You’re welcome, someone has to class up this joint.
For those of you reading this thread left wondering what is going on, allow me to give you a summary:
PVJ basically trashed this video, which is fair, but also indicated that this was the height of our creativity at PKE Surge and suggested that “This is it!” to quote an old Kenny Loggins tune.
However, myself has posited that this is not fact and more Dragoncon videos and forthcoming - they are. Of significant importance is the “We Got One!” Bust video where two teams roamed the convention center interacting with other attendees and reenacting scenes from Ghostbusters I and II.
PVJ also suggested this video was made to insult and get under Kingpin’s skin. That also is false, we hardly ever imagined this video agitating Ben in the way it did. It was about use sitting around the GBFans table the last day of the con HAVING FUN. I’m sorry you were subjected to the torture of watching it.
Matt Burkitt then chimed in and made excellent points. You may have noticed PVJ ignored all of these points and chose to respond to AJ - he did so because then his arguments actually have a leg to stand on.
He prefers to speak down to members calling them imbeciles and ignoring what others say when it contradicts his premade view of the situation. Unfortunately none of this type of behavior is outside the rules of this forum until he begins to hurl more unnecessary insults, which has happened in the past.
I don’t mean to color you against another users, like PVJ, as everyone is free to make their own judgement about other people. I would like to take a moment, however, and push this thread back to the topic at hand and that is PKE Surge videos. And I’d like to extend a huge thank you to Scott and Sandra Nance for filming and editing everything we did at Dragoncon. Their hard work is appreciated by me at least, even if a few users want to deem the fruits of their labor as “retarded” or “imbecilic”. Some of us were not reared in societies that have abandoned notions of thanking people for their work rather than trouncing it with baseless attacks.
So thank you Nances! And to everyone else who appeared in our PKE Surge videos! I’m sure you guys will love the videos to be released in the coming weeks!
I didn’t go, and I haven’t even seen the videos. And I can’t even complain about that.
There’s enough “bad slime” all around us everyday, why create more? ![]()
I have a problem with the editing. I wasn’t in a single scene!
