Greets, all! I’m Shawn “Obi-Shawn” Crosby, major Star Wars costuming geek but GB fan from way back. I’ve had a lot of folk recommend that I come sign up here for many years, but I’m usually so busy doing charity events as Obi-Wan that I haven’t made the time until now. I’ve been jonesing for a new unlicensed nuclear accelerator, and this looks like the place to get hooked into building one. I’d like to add a Buster to my quiver of Star Wars, Harry Potter and other characters for the charity events I do.
When Ghostbusters first hit in 1984, it pretty much took over my life. I built four Proton Packs out of found junk so my friends and I could roam the neighborhood as protectors the following Halloween. I was so enamored of mine that one of my my High School yearbook pics for the year features me in GB gear. While I like to think I was a Peter or Ray, I’m afraid I’m much more of a Louis Tully.
My current rig is from 1884, in the steampunk vein; at San Diego Comic-Con in 2006 (or maybe 2007?), I was one of the first if not only SPGBs, and no one really knew what steampunk was as the name hadn’t caught on yet. The following year, I hung out with some additional guys who would go on to become The League of STEAM, and we were a bustin’ foursome through the con, confusing the heck out of folk.
But if you guys know me from any walk of life, it is that I am the guy who built the Honda Del Sol and Nissan 350z Star Wars Carfighter art cars, with R2 units and laser cannons. They are my daily drivers, though around Halloween the Rebel logos get replaced with the 'No Ghosts" logo to become heavily-armored Ectos.
If you care to poke around my FB page, I have a few pics of various projects. I’m especially fond of this pic, taken at Disneyland during a charity function.
And here’s an older pic of me in the Biltmore Ballroom- “Nice shootin’ Tex!”
