Greetings! I just joined the site because, well, I realized that I hadn’t yet, and it was about time. From the days of running around in matching sweatsuit, pretending it was a GB uniform, with my Kenner pack as a kid, to now being a “grown up” with a family of my own, I’ve always been a huge Ghostbusters fan!
I’m not here to put together a uniform (yet). I’m not here to put together a pack (I don’t have the patience, tools, or skills–so I’ll eventually just buy an assembled pack). I’m here because I have a passion for Ghostbusters and am looking to be part of a community that shares that passion and enthusiasm.
I’ve got four kids: my son is 8, and my daughters will be 5, 4, and 1 in just a few months. My three oldest decided they wanted to be Ghostbusters for Halloween. The inflatable packs had to go… so I bought them all Kenner packs on eBay, each with their own PKE meter, 2 traps, and a Ghost Popper. They’re tickled to death to get out there and bust some heads… well, maybe the candy has them stoked, too… :sigh:
Currently trying to finish school, and hopefully find a teaching job thereafter. Eventually, I am seriously considering the possibility of investing some scrilla into an Ecto-1 for Halloween, parades, community events, and of course, my own pure, unadulterated fun!
Here’s the kids’ gear. (Getting them to hold still for a picture is another story!)
My wife came home from the store one night, and all the lights were out. She said, “I figured there were only three possibilities: you magically got them all to go to bed, you were all abducted by aliens, or there was some serious ghostbusting going on.” She was correct in her latter assumption! The kids have either been watching Ghostbusters (movies or RGB), playing Ghostbusters, or both simultaneously for weeks on end, now. Can’t say I’m not a proud papa.
Now, I don’t recall Kenner having two versions of the proton pack. One of them I bought must have been earlier. The PKE antenna is sharper, and the neutrona wand doesn’t have the orange ring painted on it. I’m assuming this would have been an earlier release. Would this have been recalled? This isn’t rare or anything, like a rocket-firing Boba Fett, is it?
