Real Ghostbusters 4K Remake - A Fan Project (Non-Animated)

Haha 50th anniversary … no sweat. So quicker than one still every 6 months?

I went straight into the next one and chose a simpler cel to get it done quickly, but then I had a couple of other projects I needed to divert my attention to so stalled again. Seeing the posts here will definitely get back to it asap!

Nicely done you know they do have Slimer and The Real Ghostbusters on DVD if you’re interested in getting it you make me look at the episode you lost so I have no talent for some things like this I’m a complete idiot but I did love slime with a real Ghostbusters Robo Buster Flipside Too Faced Slimer citizens ghost it was so many great animes of the Slimer and The Real Ghostbusters now imagine just made into a video game Slimer and The Real Ghostbusters movie we can always dream dreams are nice but that’s all

Are you the keymaster?

Prints available now.

I don’t think I’m allowed to link directly, but I just wanted to let anyone know if they’re interested in prints or clothing featuring either of the designs posted here so far, I’ve created listings on my Redbubble account.

If you search Redbubble for “The Real Ghostbusters Mooglie Street” or “The Real Ghostbusters Egon & Ray”, they should hopefully show up. I’ve tweaked the Mooglie design so it will look better on a shirt.

Looks GREAT!

It’s sooo beautiful!!

Love the reaction shot - all the detail you pulled out/created in the gadget is blowing my mind!

Reanimating the whole title sequence is more of an undertaking than some of you might realize.

The title sequence is just over a minute in length, and the animation may’ve been 12fps. Assuming the title sequence was animated at 12fps, that’s roughly 720 individual frames that Chicken, He Clucked would have to draw and colour, and then there’s the additional work recreating the backgrounds.

Chicken, He Clucked noted that it takes him roughly 2-3 days to render a single frame, as it’s done in his spare time. If he were to animate the whole sequence in his spare time, it could take a number of years to complete.

I’d love to see it happen, but we have to be realistic, guys.

Definitely would need an army for an entire episode. I just wish it were easier to go and clean up the whole series to look bold and crisp!

Until that magic day arrives, I am happily looking forward to more stills from the intro.

I’m sure the shot of the Firehouse Ecto Exit will be glorious!

I have started other frames, and will update soon. But… with the virus situation and family pressures it just kind of got away from me.

2 frames in 12 months… so still on track to finish this project by the year 2380.

Awesomesauce!

How are filling out the frame?

Extrapolating out based on other angles etc from the intro / series itself, and then digitally painting from scratch.

For those who were wondering what it might look like, a Youtuber (not me) has uploaded the RealGB intro digitally upscaled to 4K (you may need to adjust playback settings on the video to make it 4K).

Legit.. I’d be just fine with 1080p. Like to see this on a bluray… I’d probably by a 4k uhd set but I’m sure that be over $200 set

Whelp! Sony just slapped down my Egon and Ray shirt from Redbubble due to copyright. I dunno if they hit a load of Ghostbusters designs but there are still 5,000 up there so seems petty to me.

Redbubble doesn’t seem worth the hassle though - side note I put up a completely original design that was Animal Crossing esque but entirely my own characters and design. Got taken down immediately despite being 100% original artwork. Assuming because I tagged it ‘acnh’… just becomes pointless when there is so much stolen art up there they don’t give a crap about.

That’s such a shame! I’d love to see more of these, they’d be great for autographing! Keep up the amazing work my friend!

They left my Mooglie design up on which doesn’t make much sense. Will try some alternate sites.

Obviously with fan art like this I use “my” design extremely loosely.

One more for you guys…

Had this on the backburner for ages for a variety of reasons, and I decided I’d rather move on to doing original stuff. Was especially difficult with the lines and I’m not happy with some of it, but I need to move on to new work.

I may return to the project at some point, but I have an illustration page on instagram for anyone interested if I’m permitted to share. Appreciate any follows and I’ll be posting Ghostbusters fan art there over time. Cheers!
