Hi all,
I’m in the process of making some retro-themed transformers based on classic movie cars. I’m currently working on a Delorean time machine now and would really love to create a transforming Ecto 1 figure. I’m thinking of using the Transformers Energon “Landmine” figure, seen here (Transformers Energon Landmine Toy Gallery (Image #35 of 54)), both for it’s somewhat ghostbustery look, and its ability to combine with the back half of the vehicle.
My hopes is to use that combination gimmick to allow the main figure to hold the top portion of the ecto 1 as a makeshift proton pack. I’ve looked high and low and I just can’t seem to find any solid measurements on these toys, outside of assumed scale when compared to other figures. Just eyeballing it, it looks like the extreme ghostbusters Ecto 1 may be my best bet, but if anyone happens to have a Kenner or extreme gb ecto one, would you mind taking some measurements so that I can determine if this figure is a good base for this project?
Thanks!
The Kenner Ecto is 14" from the headlights to the taillights, and 6" tall without the optional chair on top. With the chair, call it just over 8". And it’s about 5.75" wide.
EGB Ecto is 15" due to its larger bumpers, and about 7.5" tall at its highest point (the radar dish). Less that 5" wide.

Alex, you rock! If it’s not too much trouble, about how tall is the extreme ecto 1 from the wheels to hood, not counting the light bars, etc?
2.5" from the tires (or actually the shelf it’s sitting on) up to the hood at the highest point, just before the windshield.
And the height of the roof slopes from about 3.75" at the front to 4.5" at the back, not counting the roof rack or lightbars.

I actually thought the egb ecto was smaller than the RGB. Thanks for the info as I donnt own a eGB ecto.
The EGB does come across as smaller. It’s not a different scale, just a weird interpretation. It feels more like a late 60’s model Ambulance, where the old Kenner car was sort of a deformed bloated 59.
The Kenner toy would be much easier to cut up and shell out for a Transformers kitbash. The EGB is a bit thicker and more condensed.
