Real Ghostbusters Bluray?

So close to buying the Real Ghostbusters DVD set but wondering if waste of money if there is a Bluray set coming out.

Anyone know or heard anything?

I’d be reaaaally hard-pressed to think so. I don’t see the quality being any better and they PACKED that DVD set with features and featurettes and interviews so it’s very unlikely. Especially when the 2nd movie can’t even seem to make it to blu-ray!

get that DVD set and start your marathon!!

The DVD is all you will ever need…and probably all you’ll ever get.

It’s well worth it mate.I’m in the UK and it was so hard for me to get my hands on it for a good price.IMO it’s worth every penny from the Firehouse box-art to the beautiful art work on the Steelbooks. And the bonus disc tops it.

Get the DVD set, there’s no guarantee it’ll ever be out on Bluray.

If they put the series on blu-ray it would mean fewer discs precariously overlaid on top of each other. I really worry about taking the discs out of their steel books.

Would there be a way to reformat the episodes into an HD format? It seems like they’re all very old so it might not look as good on bluray.

Since its a cartoon, they could potentially remaster them into a higher quality with computer graphics. Though they will never be widescreen.

At least you guys got a full DVD box with all episodes…

In the German speaking areas we are still waiting for the rest of the episodes, they released season 1 a few years ago but that was it…they never went on to release the other episodes… sucks…

Btw where can I get teh english speaking DVD box nowadays? Is Amazon a good idea?

As far as I remember… it is region free.

Plus don’t forget if your Blu ray player up converts, it’s could look nearly as good as HD. I watched the original Clone Wars cartoon DVDs on my bluray player and it looked awesome. So yeah, dude grab that set. It’s seriously an outstanding buy.

You can’t really compare a cartoon put out less than five years ago with a cartoon made nearly 30 years ago, the process of creating the artwork is a lot cleaner these days than you can find with some examples of ink and paint animation.

True Ben, but the point being is that RGB looks pretty good upconverted. The colors were vibrant and the overall picture was lot more crisp. I mean that’s probably the closest it will get to HD considering what the original source was.

Are you sure about the region free part?

I found this on the site you linked:

Region: Region 1 (U.S. and Canada only. Read more about DVD formats.)

Certainly the set that was available direct from Time Life is region free.

Do you have a link where I can oder this?

Do they not ship internationally?

It says region 1 encoding only for this DVD set on this site :frowning:

There will never be a blue ray version.

The original cels would have been shot on standard def video (not film).

The only way to get a true hd version would be to literally go back and re produce each episode. The cels no longer exist (guys like us bought them lol ), let a lone the cost.

The dvds were produced from the best mater tapes available and even they dont look great..

So just enjoy the dvds for what they are. There will never be a blueray. In fact im still suprised to this day they gave usa complete series on dvd!
