I posted this on Proptopia a couple of months back and have had a few people say they wanted it up on this board as well. So if this is all old news to you… Well then I guess it’s old news to you. Otherwise, enjoy.
Ever since I wanted a proton pack, I’ve always desired to have the trap mounted similar to how it is on the cartoon. A while back I threw caution to the wind, and had Proptopia-Spooky drill in a new mount on the other side of the pack. I had to shrink up the trap a bit, and create a hook mounted behind the bumper, but all in all I’m rather pleased with the result. The other members of my team like it, (I think it’s because they don’t have to carry around the trap on their leg anymore… ) So there you go. A very new, yet very old idea.
I cheat. My trap is actually made from Styrofoam cork board and model plastic. Only the handle is wood, so the trap only actually weighs about 2 pounds yet is surprisingly sturdy. Since it’s so light, I honestly can’t feel a difference in weight or balance.
It is dangerous walking through doors if you aren’t careful. I wouldn’t recommend this for tight spaces. The handle is actually the only part of the trap that ever made contact with a door. I had already made the body of the trap shorter by a few hairs, so to avoid bumping doors I also reduced the length of the handle.
yeah Dave tore his ion arm off coming through a door. Maybe you need back-up beepers like a truck has LOL. Nice idea, though. Can you grab it off of your back or do you have to take off the pack to get the trap?
Mostly the only people that notice are the fans. And I actually haven’t tried a double pull yet, just a gun re-holster/trap pull, but it wasn’t very smooth at all. I wish I was a cartoon, Venkman never had any trouble getting to his trap…
