Hello again everyone. I get asked about this quite often, but I was discussing Banjo screws with Filandrius through PM’s so i took a ton a reference photos for him that i figured i’de post for everybody’s enjoyment, along with some random info. :slight_smile:

SCREWS

First i must say that any similarities between the banjo’s would are to be expected. Although the Nycoil company now owns Legris, it was was Legris who manufactured the Nycoil Banjos during that time period

LEGRIS ON LEFT, NYCOIL ON RIGHT

**The first thing you should notice is how none of the slots in the screws are 100% consistent which each other. **

The same goes for the Nycoil Banjos

Also, for Nycoil Banjo screws, a little bit of extra metal hangs off the each end side of each slot

Here is some more quick close ups of the Legris..

The edges on the Legris screws are rounded off much more than the Nycoil

Another detail.. Legris is more squared off than the Nycoil. Also,the edges on the Legris are filed down on more of a 45 deg slant. The Nycoil Banjos are rounded off more from the middle.

**Sorry to everybody about all of the typos i made in the post. If I could edit it, i would :lol:

Now, more info on the capped ends!!

Both are almost identical to the opposite ends. The Legris simply has a hole cut in the middle for the caps and inserts. The Nycoil caps have a rim around them that is almost the same diameter as the circular cuts on the opposite side of the fitting. You can even see good examples of this in the pics i posted above. But, here are some more anyway!!**

**I will soon start writing out the specs the best i can for everybody on all of the different parts, if anybody else has anymore real parts information to add to this thread feel free to post it because we all know it’s the little details that mak a pack!! But, in the meantime i will kick things off with a random Legris 4mm Elbow fact..

The flanged caps have a smaller groove than most other old stock Legris fittings that is about 1/16" from the top of the cap, if not a hair more.**

Oh I will!! Those babies are going to be installed soon. So I will get as much info that I can for myself and everyone else in the meantime.. This info should also be a big help in making new, and improving current part replicas..

Legris elbows have such a simple design that I believe I can even make a decent set with 2 wooden rods, sandpaper, epoxy, paint, and some old brass caps and threads. Its worth a shot :lol:

Any chance of throwing a set of calipers on those and seeing how they compare to their published specs?

Man, i really wish i had an old Legris catalog for all of the specs. I’ve only been able to look through a few pages that survived the test of time and the info was useless.. Finding a complete catalog, to me, is the holy grail… I searched just as hard for one as i have parts!!
