rebirth of a trap

last year I installed a hyperdyne labs trap door controller into my trap. I was never really happy with the way it worked, but I stuck with it… a month after that, the board died and I’ve had no luck contacting hyperdyne about how to fix it or getting a replacement.

so, instead, I’m going to be gutting the old electronics and rewiring the lights I put in myself with some brighter ones. The doors will not function.

Which is fine since I only wear the full costume on halloween and kicking a trap out to show off the doors in NYC isn’t really practical… so, I’ve decided to do something with a bit more flair…

a smoking trap!

I’m planning on lining the inside of the trap with either plastic or some lightweight sheet metal to protect the innards from damage, but I’m still stumped on how to actually make the smoke. Dry ice might work, but it’ll only last for so long… and carrying a cooler full of the stuff along with wearing a 30 pound proton pack isn’t something I’m looking forward to.

What’s the best way to create the smoke short of making a small fire on the inside of a wooden trap? lol

I was thinking of smoke bombs or something, but I’d really rather not have a tiny explosion going off anywhere near me or the equipment… oh, and other people… yeah, can’t forget about the other people. I was thinking if maybe there were some simple chemicals I could mix to make smoke, I could just pour them inside the trap and let it smoke away… hopefully without accidently poisoning myself

thoughts? ideas? HELP!

I´m planning on using this stuff… don´t know the name in english…

It will leave a nice smell once it starts somoking… maybe relax everyone.

There are a bunch of posts here about it, both here and on Proptopia.

That’s the most recent one I found. I am still going to attempt the suggestion that I made in that thread when I get settled into my new place and get some cash to fund the experiments :-p Good luck, man!
