I haven’t really been keeping up with the parts ID on the new PKE, but I saw this pic on Facebook from the GBs of Las Vegas.
Some of the controls definitely look like they’re from video camera, handle controls, or an older, small CRT studio monitor. The round control with the flash icon is probably from an older digital camera.
They have more photos of the meter, as well as a video of it in action.
the grip looks like an RC cheapo remote, maybe from an X-mod? ill dig mine out and post a pic if I can find it.
I thought that too, but the grip isn’t right. I think they could have been custom done, like the back plate on the new packs.
Though not exact, this is the closest I’ve found for the controls on the right:
It’s obviously from a camera, and very likely a point and shoot type. I went through and Google Image searched almost every single Cyber Shot that was listed on Wikipedia (List of Sony Cyber-shot cameras - Wikipedia) and nothing else matched.
I’ma add my two cents in on the handle. It looks JUST like an attack on titan sword handle. People make them all the time for their props…even if its not exact its most likely the easiest to get your hands on and modify. I’ll probably go down that road if i find one that won’t cost my soul on shipping to Australia.

Here its not a slot that a floppy or anything can push through, but a closed indent, namely half an indent from where something was latched, namely if you look at the backside of ithttps://www.facebook.com/ghostbusters702/photos/pcb.901179780004708/901179763338043/?type=3&theater
Its like, instead of an older floppy point n shoot camera, its a modern video camera. Flip one on its end, put the handle where the viewfinder used to be so it lines up with the lens shaft, with the atennae popping out where the lens used to be, remove the swivel monitor that would normally be on the left side and make it the back, while a new screen and buttons are crammed onto the side that would be in your right palm if you held it as a camera.
To top it off, above the custom pke label on the back, theres another, smaller label that reads "SR-3541-9877 " Couldnt find anything typing that into google, and maybe its another fake label alongside the pke custom label, but since they went to the trouble of making a TINY label for the pack of the prop, and giv specs for the pack intentionally for cosplay, it mightve been intentional.
The Reboot PKE Meter kinda looks like a heavily modified Panasonic Lumix camera, with a silver shell.
Im still looking around at the cameras, remotes and Shutter Trigger Camera Pistol Grips.
Its definitely a shutter trigger grip on a camera. Looks like the grip has a vertical and horizontal adjuster. which would make sense for the camera mounting easily and vertical for the look of the PKE. The controls on the back look like they were rotated counter clockwise 90 degrees using the hex wrench bolts and probably pulled the dial and reglued. Ill let you all know if I find the Camera Pistol Grip and camera/camera remote used.
I’m surprised it has been so hard to identify the camera. It seem like if we can track that down, the rest of the prop build would be pretty easy to put together. I have looked in every store and online for something even remotely similar in layout and size and cant come up with anything. For the part along the side of the camera which spins the antenna I was thinking of modifying a cordless screwdriver. Anyone else have any more info on where to source these parts? Thanks
That’s assuming it’s made out of a real camera, and the control panel wasn’t modified from how it originally appeared.
Oddly enough I received an old point and click from my job that almost the right size and button configuration.

So far that’s proven to be one of the best leads we’ve had, I just wish there was some sort of maker’s mark on it to help us narrow down the brand.

If it is indeed moulded and modded from an existing camera grip and not just something to look like one, I’d say based on style, the source item was a vintage piece.
To me it looks like a mixture of a Mavica and a Handycam. The handle is definitely some sort of pistol grip. Everything else appears to be custom. The focus, peaking, etc. buttons have got to be from a larger digital video camera and custom fit. There’s no way those would’ve been on a small digital camera.
