Reboot Trailer Discussion

Woohoo, totally called Valentines Day as the day we would be either teased or see a trailer.

BTW, someone from another forum mentioned the piano tune reminded him of the real ghostbusters, where they use piano in the quieter scenes. Can anyone relate?

Really?

The transformer board I’m on is WAY more optimistic than this place.

Never been there so I wouldn’t know. It would be nice if as long as we remain courteous, respectful and intelligent we could freely express our opinions on this project even though we don’t support it, though I realize that becomes difficult as passions run hot. It just bugs me how they’re jamming it down our throats and some like it.

My issue with this teaser for the teaser is that nothing in it really says “Ghostbusters” except for the logo and for the dramatic piano gb theme tune at the end. Watching the military and police line up…they could have at least had a ghost growl/laugh sound effect. That would have at least given us a “ohhh snap…” before the logo kicked in.

I dunno. Whatevs. The actual trailer will be interesting.

There shouldn’t be any issues with people having different opinions anymore.

Once they booted Cassidy from here things calmed down.

I’m pumped for the flick… But I do feel a bit slighted. All this time and only 20ish secs. grumble.

What movie is Sony releasing that Friday?

Ohh yeah… I can see that.

I like it! The logo animation looks really good. The minimal piano notes to the Ray Parker Jr. melody–AWESOME!

I’m REALLY hoping the “whine” sound that starts around :09 is a pack starting up. You have to admit, it’s reminiscent of the classic pack sound.

I keep seeing people talking about the heavy action movie tone. You can’t deny it’s in there, but I don’t think it’s at all representative of what the entire movie will be. Maybe in places, but this is definitely going to be a comedy. I’m guessing on the full trailer, they’ll pull a switcharoo-- start off with familiar action movie trailer tropes, then hit hard with the comedic GB reveal.

A friendly reminder guys, please use the spoiler tags when posting pictures of the ghost figures from New York Toy Fair, some folks will prefer not to see them until they watch the movie.

I’m curious to know, as this is the second time lately I’ve seen pretty much that exact phrase. Why do you feel things are “being jammed down” your throat? A movie like this was always going to have a large degree of advertising and merchandising.

Wait, so people complain that there isn’t a trailer, and then after a small tease video, now they’re jamming it down our throats?!

I really felt it would be cooler if the last shot was a very brief glimpse of a ghost, a proton pack starting up or the lights and siren of the Ecto. Heck even a close up of the Ghostbusters symbol on the arm. Still excited for the trailer and loved the piano beat and logo, but seeing a minor glimpse of something Ghostbusters would have taken a pretty insignificant teaser and made it squeal worthy.

At first blush, I thought this teaser was a bit slick commercial mimicry, aping the likes of the superhero films for the sake of appealing to key demographics. We’re used to seeing God-like figures smashing up cities and looking flawless whilst they do so immediately after a vignette like that.

But… this is a comedy. And the teaser went to the trouble of showing us polished professional first responders and armed forces replete with heavy firepower and streamlined vehicles for juxtaposition. Not hard to imagine how comical that new ramshackle car, souped-up leafblowers and hockey shin guards will look arriving in the midst of that scene.

Well that was underwhelming. I know it’s only a teaser, but that was the most generic trailer I’ve ever seen. You wouldn’t even know it was Ghostbusters if not for the logo flash at the end.

I loved the five-note piano sampling of the theme - classy, yet slightly threatening!

That’s because it’s not a trailer… it’s effectively an announcement of when the trailer will be out.

I didn’t get that vibe at all, when I heard it I thought of two people having a deep conversation with one another and then smiling while having a moment.

I don’t get people shooting down an announcement for the trailer being in a teaser form. You rather wanted them to just tweet another date?

BTW, I like how they cut away just before you see whatever they are fighting, or showing the GB, just like a teaser should. I’m actually surprised it wasn’t only some proton stream like the teaser for the videogame.

Listen to the whole humming during the trailer…doesn’t it sound like the “du da du da du da” intro of the Gb theme? Slightly updated of course.

Because it didn’t show anything. It looked like someone lifted shots from a Godzilla or Transformers film and with as obsessed with Twitter Paul Feig is, he could’ve saved the marketing department time and effort but just tweeting it. Efforts that could be used on getting an actual trailer out

Also very reminiscent(rip-off? reminiscent?) of the Jurassic World announcement teaser.

Only difference between the two is the Jurassic World teaser managed to capture dinosaur wonder(with footage of, you know, dinosaurs) and even a little bit of dread in there too. In just 15 seconds.

This one was just…generic footage of military guys doing stuff. If you took out the “who you gonna call” text it would have probably been about the same length as the JW AT, but considerably less effective.
