Well that was a lot of biased GB II bashing.
I hope Ivan Reitman and others do a real commentary, though a lot of what could be said, aside from personal experience, is known by now.
I figured as much. I’m going to give it a viewing tomorrow night.
I looooove me some Red Letter Media. They’re good people, and Milwaukee-based to boot. I tossed a few bucks this morning to them for this track. I’ll probably be watching it later today.
I turned it off after 8 minutes. I’d rather just watch the movie.
Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if this doesn’t go over very well here. They won’t hide the fact that they don’t find GBII to be a particularly good movie, which I would imagine would turn a lot of hardcore fans off immediately.
Still, I love the RLM gang and I love hearing their thoughts on movies. Listened to a portion of the commentary last night and I enjoyed it. Those guys love movies so it’s always cool to listen to them ramble.
Being able to poke fun or acknowledge the flaws in something you love proves you as an honest fan instead of a Stan. Sometimes we gotta take a step back and realize that GB2 was some goofy half-assed stuff. I’ve got tons of terrible movies that I love to bits that are much worse than GB2 is.
Yeah, as someone who both is a diehard Friday the 13th fan and someone who saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in theaters multiple times, I’d be one of the first to admit there’s lots of flaws in some of the films I love.
I only listened to a few minutes at the beginning and they echoed some of my opinions. Why is the GBII logo in the movie? What sense does that make?
Sorry, i cant take anyones opinion when they dismiss a scene for being “stupid” in a movie franchise that involves suped-up ambulances and demonic marshmallow men…these movies arent to be taken seriously, guys.
Ill agree GB2 should’ve expanded the story of the Ghostbusters rather than re tinker the beats of the first film. But, it doesnt make it a “terrible” or “stale” movie
Some of the points were unfair, i cant stand when “critics” nitpick a film for what it “isnt” in stead of critiquing it for what it “is”–Though i will go on record and say the flow of the movie would be tighter and more interesting (and stand on its own) if the Louis and Ray-subplots were kept in, and more “dana / oscar scenes” were left out.
Still, These kind of “nostalgic reviews” bother me. Its what brainwashes younger viewers and the general public more for not wanting to expand beyond pre-2000s. Bashing and reviewing older movies only makes the past look unappealing to the younger generations and the casual public.
Though i agree about their thoughts on GB3. (That ghostbusters 1 was held together by the comedic chemistry of Ramis,Aykroyd and Murray and more or less the concept and will be difficult to replicate)
I’m not one to be whining at all,but i’m getting sick of the constant “nitpicking” topics on GB II and i’m sure the rest of you are.It’s good,it’s bad,i don’t like it,waa waa waa,when is it coming out on Blu-Ray…please just STOP!
I actually really liked the half in the bag commentary, although i’m sure it will upset many a gb2 fans.
Those guys always raise a lot of interesting points, and as much as I Iove gb2… I find it hard to disagree with most of the feedback they gave it. But hey I still love the film anyway.
They are quite right that they picked the safe choice with the sequel and pretty much remade the first film with the statue being a perfect example.
