Wanted to take a moment to invite anyone in the area out to our Relay this weekend. Our Ghostbusters team has been working hard fundraising and getting ready for the festivities. We’ve built a firehouse front, Stay Puft game, GB & Slimer cut out, and an Ecto Cooler. Some of us will be in costume, though only one of us has the full gear at the moment. Photos of what we’ve constructed (and us building everything) are up here.
We’re pretty excited because it’s our first full event in our community and up to this point the other Relay teams in our community haven’t really known what to think of us. “Ghostbusters… wha…?”
The event itself opens to the public Saturday the 24th at 1pm, at Firemen’s Field in Sebring. There’ll be food, fundraising and games and all the money raised goes to the American Cancer Society. Everyone on our team has either lost or had a family member effected by cancer so it’s a cause that’s important to us.

Thanks!
awesome backdrop!!! good luck congrats on how much you’ve raised and hope you have a great night
Wow that is an amazing set up. We’re working on some booth games as well inspired by the Palm Coast team’s. Great to see more teams working with the Relay for Life.
i like that staypuft one alot, it looks pretty rad
Creel! Hey thanks, hope your Relay went well last weekend.
And thanks everyone, we worked three separate weekends to get everything together. A lot of the design credit goes to our teammate who goes by the name JackAbsinth here. He did most of the detailed painting as well. He’s one talented guy.
Originally we had planned to do a shooting gallery for our booth game, but eventually worked back around to the Stay Puft bean bag toss, which was a little bit inspired from the Slimer ball toss game the Palm Coast folks had at MegaCon.
Love the backdrop and the slimer/GB photo op thing. Great job!
Good Luck with the Relay event!
Just an update, the event went really well. As a team, we met our goal of raising $2500. Most people actually sort of got what we were doing there dressed as Ghostbusters.
We’ll post our site layout as soon as we get the photos up.
Wow congrats. That’s a massive amount raised. I didn’t realize you were out at the same time we were yesterday. Believe me people love Ghostbusters anywhere they are and that’s why they’re so successful at charity events. Keep it up.
Here’s all the photos I took:
Some interesting moments for me.
I had a young man about 10 or 11 come up and buy some Electro Plasma (green Gatorade) from me while I was wearing chiizukun’s googles. He asked what kind of goggles they were and when I explained that they allowed me to see ghosts better, he very sternly and very matter of fact told me there were no ghosts. I replied I guess that means we’re out of a job.
They ran costume contests all through the night to keep people entertained, and around 2am the “Favorite Movie Star” contest was held, which we claimed first place in, beating out two Marilyn Monroes, Elvira, a Miley Cyrus, and John Wayne.
We had a blast, it was a loooong day. We started set up 7am Saturday and didn’t break down until 7am Sunday, most of us were out on the field all 24 hours. There was a lot of great feedback, and people seemed to really enjoy our site.
