They look good. How much do they weigh? our hallow fiberglass movie packs weigh 20 pounds, and even my game pack is closer to 30, solid MDF has to be pushing around 40 to 50 ish.
we hollowed out as much as we could with this build, as far as total weight, not sure about that, we can weigh them this weekend and let you know ; )
( I can tell you that at least compared to a movie pack made from MDF, they are much, MUCH lighter )

Small update today..
Got one of the bumpers fully done, and one bumper is gluing. Still have one more to make. I used a poplar instead of MDF because the bumper needs to be able to take more of a beating since it will have the cyclotron attached to it. Also incorporated into the bumper is the trap peddle/hose hook. This will help down the line when we incorporate the trap into the pack.
Also, we got the hand grips in the mail yesterday compliments of Unger. Did some work on one of the grips to look a little more like what was in the DiC plans. (see pic below)
Will also need to fill in the gap when the grips are put on the aluminum pipe (about a 1/4 gap to seal.. not sure what I am going to use just yet).

Are you talking about an Alice frame?
yep. In the toon, the packs where held by back pack like straps only cut through the motherboard.. no alice frame
We toyed with the idea, as we wanted these packs to be the most accurate ones to date ( according to the DIC plans ) but in the end, we felt that using an alice was the only way to go, as these would be worn for long periods of time and we NEED them to be comfortable.
Yea without the alice frame it would be like strapping a big heavy board to your back. I don’t have an alice frame on my mini RGB pack and it can get very uncomfortable..fast.
Any chance you guys would be posting the plans & measurements for these? Sorry if this was already asked. I just got asked by two friends what the chance of us making some RGB packs some time and I don’t know where to start on these since there’s nothing to go by (well, after this thread there will be)

This weekend was definitely a very successful build weekend. Got a lot done on all 3 packs and were getting closer to the priming and painting stage.
Here are a few overall shots of the 3 packs..
Also accomplished something this weekend we didn’t expect to…
In the below picture you see that the grey split loom on the pack is removable by twisting off via a cap to expose some wires inside the proton pack. Also, you see that the bright blue “step-up” on the spacer is actually a button. We incorporated both into the pack. (note the button is able to come apart and the outside & inside will be painted light blue, and the outer gloss covering will be left untouched).
Also this weekend, we got the grips prepped to be shipped out to have brown fabric sewn onto them. A little more work is needed on the hand grip as we had to fill in the gap that was left when put on the aluminum pipe. That will be completed tonight.
