I am thinking of taking a cross country road trip with my grandpa. We are located in Ohio. He will be turning 84 on Valentines days this year. My wife just lost her grandmother to cancer this past week, and its really made me want to act on taking him on a trip around the country. He really likes Nature, and parks so I have that in mind as well. Take the opportune to tie it in with the GB community as well. Go around and meet up with willing groups around the states. Also looking for volunteers to allow us to crash for a night along the way. See who is interested and that will help me plan the exact way I will be going, and exactly how I will need to budget my time. Trying to keep the cost low, but I also don’t want to spend 10 hours a day driving. Going to try to give myself at least 2 weeks time as well, but im not on a tight schedule. I will need to plan his dialysis visits as well. He does 3 times a week, so that may limit me.
He is a good sport about putting on gear too. Here is me and grandpa:
If it doesn’t happen then thats fine. maybe I might do a shorter east coast one.
I would like to go up towards Chicago, west through Iowa, North Dakota, and Wyoming.
Ending up toward Washington State. Maybe not that far north though. At least San Fran.
Then go South towards LA, and back through Arizona, New Mexico, OK, Arkansas, TN.
Then back north through Kentucky.
If that all goes well and we get a chance to rest, we might do an east coast tour after that.
