Hello, and salute.
Names Shaun. I currently reside in the north eastern slimehole of Ohio. I am a huge nerd, computer tech, DJ, and prop builder. Got my start in the Larping field, and began making medieval and steampunk weaponry, clothing, and accessories. From the old and ugly pvc pipe + pipe foam + duct tape newbie swords. To the elaborate, 3 dimensional camp padding hybrid of some of the more Full Contact SCA style Mass war larps. For those who do not know, LARP, is Live Action Role Play. Which can span from pretty much any type of environment, era/time period, or even universe. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some Buster larpers, i would actually be jealous. I am going to celebrate my 30th birthday october 2015, but have been a buster, since i could walk. I almost always had my Kenner pack on, running around the house with trap in hand. This halloween, i decided to hang up my larping costumes, and make something fresh, and techy. So i am building my first “junk” pack, as i’ve seen on here. Using a lot of the instructionals, images, and references you awesome folks have to offer. Hoping to bring an old childhood love, back from the dead with my limited funds. Currently have my ALICE frame, from a surplus store, and a bunch of industrial cardboard tubes, medicine bottles, film bottles, and left over computer parts. Sadly, i’ll have to settle for basic foam and ducktape alice padding, and recycled backpack straps. As my frames were barebone, in a pile of broken alices’. Stumbled upon GBFans while googling reference imagery, and glad i did. Being an ex-veteran member of Jaycees. I believe starting a group of busters in my area, may be good for me. I really enjoy making tours of childrens hospitals, parades, and etc.. With the local jaycees disbanding, i think it would be awesome to have a new volunteer group around here. Mentioned this idea, and my halloween costume to my Girl, and was surprised to be begged to include her. So it seems my first project is now 2 packs. For something unique, i’m constructing her a compact pact, and myself a hybrid. Using the combined looks of both RGB and GB the film, with but vibrant color scheme of the animation. I was inspired by one of the members on here, who was taken to reviving Kenner, in his four man group of packs and side mounted traps. I am excited to get this product rolling, just hope when my 27-P arrives in the mail, it fits. Being a Big and Tall man, figuring out which XL size is correct, without trying it on; is a nightmare.
