With the success of Tobin’s Spirit Guide and Spates Catalog just about to ship… we figured now is the time to start on the Roylance Guide to Secret Sects & Societies. Above is a digital mock-up of what the book is intended to look like. Here are some key points:
Dark brown leather cover with embossed design and gold foiled title to match Tobin’s & Spates.
Size will be between Tobin’s and Spates, making the three tomes an aesthetically mismatched matching set.
The book will be dated at 1905 with the main text based on a late 19th C book about secret societies. The text will be entirely rewritten for internal consistency, with countless pop-culture references throughout.
A matching binding relic will also be included as an optional extra (this time an antique silver with lapis lazuli stone). We’re hoping to have the text finished later this year with an early 2027 release date.
It would be great if this version of Roylance and Tobins could be featured in the next movie (there’s gotta be another one) as either a feature or background prop to come full circle from fan art to actual in universe items - given how they go so nicely with the Tobins that was seen in Afterlife.

I have highly scrutinized the FE Ray’s Occult scenes as well as the YHS walkthrough, alas these are not there that I have seen. It would have been a perfect opportunity had these books come out before the movie. I hope these books can be part of any future Ray’s Occult scenes that are official. Would have also been super fun to see them among Egon’s clutter in the farmhouse…
I am really hoping the next movie can bring some real world items like these books into the fictional universe. For example the FE Ray’s Occult set has Peter Aykroyd’s “A History of Ghosts” jammed in among the books now making it an in universe book.
I have finished writing the entire book… it’s well over 600 pages long. Just doing the tedious editing now. Hoping for a February or March 2027 release. Stay tuned!!
