I’m just curious if someone has ever scratch built a movie accurate, or at least close to movie accurate PKE meter. And, if so, what would be the best route to go without a the Iona. I’m just looking for ideas right now, and what would be the best plans to go with. Any help would be appreciated.
I have no clue, but I have a suggestion. Google image search pke meter just to get an idea of what a pke meter looks like, then start searching maybe some thrift store for items that have a resemblence to the “real” thing. :?
I can see why boomer went for a custom one as Iona shells are becoming rarer and rarer the more time goes by… I bet you one day in the not too distant future people building PKEs will have to rely on resin-cast replicas because they;d simply be easier to get.
They are hardly rare if you devote the time to tracking them down and are willing to pay the asking price… I probably passed on at least two dozen of them last year, because of price…
There are a boat load of them out there, as they were made for many years and a popular item…
If you are serious on making a PKE then spend the time searching one out, unless you are going for a custom design you will probably expend more time and effort in making something look like an Inoa then you would have just sourcing the real deal…
Also there are/have been and I suspect will continue to be some very good casting on the market, both PKE refined and straight up Iona shell… I was even going to offer up virgin and slightly refined Iona casting, but I simply do not have the time right now…
