I used this forum so much in building my pack & costume for Halloween so thought I’d do a quick right up on how I went about it all should it be useful for other fans.
Firstly, this is my first pack & I took inspiration from many others but mainly the fantastic resources made available by Sean Bishop, Norm Gagnon & Stefan Otto’s blue prints.
Like I said, this is my first go and no, it’s not screen accurate but it looked the part & got a lot of attention. For now it’s pride of place in my room whils I contemplate further improvements (sound) or selling it and starting all over.

Firstly I cut out the motherboad from some ply I had kicking about in the garage;
I used 6mm MDF to build the shell, some 22mm PVC pipe for the handle & barrell to fit the 21mm clear clay rolling pin, and classic style bike handlebar grips cut down;
The flight suit is just desert issue RAF flying suit with the rank slides and pockets removed, elbow pads are off ebay, as are the patches. The pee tube was made out of some pond pipe from B&Q that I sprayed yellow paint into and used a christmas cracker toy and hose connection to fix on the suit. I had the correct US webbing belt and bio gloves kicking about already and just made up some belt bits & pieces out of old keyrings and black leather offcuts.
Definitely an impressive build, and on a budget to boot! Great job! If you were going to upgrade at any point to make it a bit more accurate for future build my only suggestion would be to grab some bigger tubing for the handles on the gun. Otherwise great job!

Yea, the gun was the trickiest part of the the whole thing, I actually made the body twice as it didn’t ‘look’ right first time round. Getting the handles to work was a real pain, making everything fit everything else. If I was to make another one I’d do the handles bigger and have the firing mechanism to make the barrel extend.
