SDCC 2013 Need some advice for the Pros (Hotels)

Okay you SDCC Veterans, what Hotels do you recommend and how far are they from the con?

I figure this stuff needs to be booked asap or it’ll get real expensive real quick!

Thanks for any help you can give!

No matter where you call it will be expensive. They all know the SDCC dates and plan accordingly. Of course the rates will go up as the number of rooms goes down. Check out anything around the Mission Valley/Hotel Circle area. It is about 10-15 min from the convention center. If you want something within walking distance start calling anyone on Harbor Drive.

Thanks Joe this helps!

hey CB, Joe is right, I’ve been a vendor @ SDCC for 10 years, and every year the hotel price goes up, no matter when you book. The hotels know when Comic con comes around, and they price accordingly. Joe is also right, your best bet is Hotel Circle/ Mission Valley area, I’ve been staying around Hotel Circle for 6 years straight, but I’m moving to the Mission Valley area next year, Hotel Circle has finally gone beyond my budget ( over $200.00 a night, and I stay 7 days since I’m a vendor, but I used to pay $79.99 a night not just 4 years ago.) I’m paying roughly $165. a night in Mission Valley.

Hope this helps.

it does help thanks!

The convenience of a hotel downtown is NOT worth the $500 a night pricetag ( what I paid for one at Hard Rock years ago ) and that’s assuming you can get one. I’ll augment what they said by broadening the scope a bit.

Look at the Trolley line and find a hotel anywhere along that. I’d rather be 10 miles from Comic-Con but able to hop on a trolley ( pretty much runs 24 hours a day ) that takes me from the front door of the hotel to the front door of Comic-Con than get a hotel room 4 blocks away from Con and have to walk there through crowds.

Mission Valley / Hotel Circle are your best bets but don’t just get any hotel in the area, think about it from the perspective of “How close is this to a trolley station?”

Comic-Con is on the green line at the GASLAMP QUARTER station. Any of the stops from there and as far out as Mission Valley Center would make sense. Technically you could go even further out but I don’t think you’ll have to.

no worries, I’m just excited that I’ll be there with my uniform for the first time. Working on my thrower now, hopefully I’ll have my proton pack by then.

Thanks for the map! this helps alot, the last time I was in San Diego was about 10 years ago and I was pretty much drunk the whole time so I don’t remember a whole lot.

The fact that the trolley runs 24 hrs is a big plus since our team has to be there before the con opens to prep the table each day.

all you guys have been a great help, and I know I speak for the BAGBs and Sac teams when I say we can’t wait to see you guys at SDCC!

I just booked my hotel a couple of days ago ahead of the circus Comic-Con International spearheads. I refuse to book anything over $50/night, it’s just ridiculous any other way. Quite honestly, all I need is a roof over my head. I’ll be in Chula Vista … kind of far, but my hotel is near a trolley line. The room is only $44/night and I’m staying with three friends. It’s a dingy little hotel, but it beats where I stayed last year, which was only a couple miles from the Mexico border.

I saw the list SDCC released of hotels in the general area and there was nothing under $150/night. Outrageous.

Id be in tears if i could find a room at one of the host hotels for dragon con for 150 or less a night…you sdcc kids get off cheap
