Momeraths24 does it. I saw lots of feedback that indicated a waiting game, so I expected it there.
Umoribawar is doing it. $446 dollars floating around 60+ days.. What else can we do? I cant make machined aluminum parts.
I realize that the high-demand sellers are busy and there is wait time, but why take the payment if the parts aren’t ready or soon to be ready? It seems like when they want the money, they suggest the parts are almost done. (less than 30 days like in the rules). That would be good.
I have avoided getting premium parts for this reason. I have no other choice, right?
I didn’t want to impugn anyone specifically, but it’s whats been going on in regards to the metal-parts sellers. I realize making these parts is time consuming and requires special tools and special skills, but TRY to follow the money then parts within 30 days after payment is taken. If not, answer PM’s. Communicate.
it boggles my mind how franchesky continues to make new runs when past ones remain unfufilled, and he omits a paper trail by calling people. i have friends that have ordered from him waiting 3 months and longer for simple cut pieces of aluminum pipe(some even getting theirs littered with scratches)
because they’re happy they finally get their items, they leave the positive feedback for it. however, for what it is, and the wait for it? unacceptable.
Bottom line is payment is being taken, with the promise of parts being ready when they are really not ready. 60-90 days (or possibly more) going by, and the communication isn’t there. Several unanswered PM’s?! Not good.
I think people are hesitant to leave a feedback before they have even gotten their order, for fear of ■■■■■■■ off the seller, and even still after the sale is over. What if you needed something else again? There aren’t that many people with the skill to make these parts. Jason (Jpa35) and Vincenzo are exceptions, their orders went out timely. We lost Jason, and I think CPU makes metal parts, but doesn’t even advertise.
It’s a supply vs. demand thing maybe?
The need for nice parts > people that can make them
It’s great that there are at least a few people who can make parts on their CNC machines and equipment at work, and the prices they charge are understandable, considering the industry. If I went to a local CNC shop requesting parts it might actually cost more. But for an aluminum thrower and greeblies we are talking $700 dollars.
That is a considerable amount of money. Let’s all keep that in mind when these orders are in progress. Let’s at least try to follow the spirit of the GBFans Guidelines for Buying and Selling.
the last real job i had was working in a television news studio construction company. i often worked in the metal shop helping them with their cut lists and welding prep. they never took longer than a month (from cutlist to assembly) and the fabricated pieces were larger and had more to them than what these people offer(even the smaller parts were more involved than what these people sell). cutting pipe was an afternoon’s worth of work, even complicated angles. welding those larger pieces took a week or so, where smaller parts (the same pieces in an assembly line) took a couple days (that’s even with out me helping them prepare their parts, i may have slowed them down on a few occasions having to check with them what they need).
if they were to make a thrower from start to finish, it would not take them more than a week’s time, if they screwed around and did other work. and…that’s just with the two metal fabricators. when there was only one, that time frame didnt change.
the length of time these sellers take is unacceptable, especially if most of you are waiting on cut pipe parts with out any welds to them. welding aluminum is not a time consuming process, neither is cutting the material for them. jay’s example of vince having his in a timely manner is a testament to how these should be, and he doesnt even fabricate his metal parts; he has them made for him.
i really wish people would stop throwing money at these people for what they’re getting, and franchesky should learn to start writing people emails, so he cant take advantage of them by phone.
I can relate to this thread! Ordered an Ion Arm from Franchesky on August 2nd, I didn’t get it in the mail until the Wednesday before halloween… I know there was some family issues that arose, but he told me that he hadn’t even CNC’d it till the first week of Halloween…
If it’s going to take a while before you (the seller) can devote the time to making the part, just don’t take the payment.
Take the payment when the part is done. The 30 days from payment rule is absolutely more than enough time. It should be shipped immediately after taking payment.
Make a list, like for example in Vincenzo’s shell thread. When you have one customer “in production” that is the only customer whose money you should have.
I placed/paid a $200 order with Momeraths24 in May for a front handle assembly. Still waiting for him to ship it. Supposedly he just needs to make one more Banjo but he’s also told me 4 times already “It’ll ship next week” in the last 6 months (Nov 1 the most recent).
I received my package from Umori, & the parts are amazing.
That being said, this thread is still relevant, the sellers should be following a better system in regards to taking payments and completing and shipping orders.
I’m hoping my gunbody transaction with him goes according to plan.
I agree with everyone’s comments and feedback. The fact that we (metal part sellers) MUST do a better job making these parts and shipping them within the appropriate time frame is important. Yep these parts are not by any means easy to make and they are time consuming even with a CNC. I know what my flaws are and I’m working to address them and learn to be a better seller for everyone in the community.
I opened the Matty conversion thread because I knew that it wouldn’t get in the way of my current orders. My wife runs the CNC for those parts so I can continue to complete my current orders. However, I’ll not take payment until I complete and ship all of my current orders.
Everyone’s feedback is important and like I said it will make me a better seller in the future. I’m off from work this week and will continue to work late to ensure that you guys get your parts soon.
I had similar shipping delays with Franchesky earlier this year, and while it was frustrating, he more than made up for the delay with several free items and some customized parts, going above and beyond to make it right. I appreciate that he’s doing his best to make his future transactions better, and from what I’ve received, his work is well done.
I have seen sellers do the ‘free items to make up for it’ for a long time. It doesn’t make it right though. If they had just provided the items in a timely matter in the first place then there wouldn’t be a need to take even longer to make and throw in free items. Its kind of like bribery to prevent negative feedback. Your product, and service should speak for itself.
all of this. it’s something that franchesky is all too willing to remind people of who are running out of patience with their ridiculous wait time.
bottom line; it really doesnt take much at all to meet the seller requirements. there are sellers that completely take advantage of that and the people willing to keep them around by continuing to buy from them regardless of their poor business behavior. i mean really, on the wait alone for all of the current metal sellers, if there WAS a ■■■■■■■■ enforcement of the seller time limit (which is TOTALLY THERE) none of these people would be allowed to sell. much less start a whole new run when past orders remain unfulfilled.
those of you willing to just give these knuckle heads YOUR money with out anything to show for it for months? you’re just as bad for allowing them to have this behavior. i dont like anyone being taken advantage of, but you really arent doing much to help your case when you gave them the money to sit on or spend on whatever they want and you’re left empty handed for months while they continue making new runs, putting your order to the side, and OTHER people’s orders to the side.
it’s wrong to be happy with what you finally get when you eventually get it. sit down and think how you were screwed out of all your plans when you put down all that money.
** it’s just a stupid cycle that no one’s really attempting to put an end to.** and there are SEVERAL solutions to that problem, none of them bode well for the metal parts seller.
