This is the newestest Ghostbusters Pin-Up Girl, I’m going to make 12 of these and assemble a calendar. I have some contacts that are in contact with Dan the Man so I hope to get him a Calendar. My dream is that it’ll be set dressing in the Ghostbusters III film - when it gets made. (I guy can have a dream can’t he?)

I thought since the car had red trim that it was only fitting red was an accent color on her outfit. So the frill on skirt and her bra. I thought about coloring the tattoo white but I’m not sure they have white ink for tattoo’s so I gave it some subtle shading. The original image is 300dpi, and 24" x 12" two down 10 to go.
I like it.

I had fun developing my own photoshop brushes for her hair. I had some from tutorials and had always meant to make my own. Most digital artists have their own special secret stash of custom brushes for their artwork that they have made over the years. I’m starting to get a decent sized stock pile. Now to make sure I back them up - not like last time.. D’oh!
Yup, that’s the image that I used as reference. I also have a photo of the girl. You thought I just plucked this all out of my head? lol
Did you know that on the original star wars poster painted by the Brothers Hildebrandt he took photo’s of his wife to use as reference for princes leia?
I think Boomerjinks is trying to say that you could have asked for permission, (“Hey is it okay IF I______?”) or you should have referenced him and that you were using his photo/ artwork.
or
He was trying to say that he wants naked photos of the model as a trade off.

Typically when you make something using someone else’s work, the absolute least thing you can do is provide credit, or even a thank you. Instead what you’ve done is essentially tracing, and when called out, you shrugged it off because you don’t know any better.
It’s rude.
PUBLIC APOLOGY
I PM’d Boomerjinks and tried to smooth things over, I told him that I meant him no ill will, and would gladly remove the image if he was upset by it. So either you didn’t get my PM or your didn’t care. I even went so far as to contact AJ and another moderator to remove the thread, so as not to upset Boomerjinks any further, but haven’t heard back from them. Perhaps they want to see where this goes? perhaps its policy to just let things lay where they fall, perhaps they haven’t got the message yet … I don’t know.
I was under the impression HONESTLY that because the subject matter of the piece was copyright property of Columbia a.k.a Sony Pictures that it wouldn’t be a big deal if I replicated it. However I have since gone to a friend who’s a copyright lawyer and told him what had happened and indeed the photograph of Boomerjinks’ should not have been replicated without permission. I’ve haven’t come across this before in the past because primarily I never illustrate stuff from pop culture or other franchises. I mostly paint portraits and scenes from life. I studied to be an illustrator for 4 years in school and have been working professionally as an artist for over 12 years, needless to say I didn’t trace it, but I did copy it.
I’m a big enough guy to admit when I’m wrong. Its an awesome shot - I was inspired by it. But I WAS WRONG to replicate his image without permission. I was hoping that the fans would just see the image, and go “hey that’s cool” and that’s it, but instead things backfired. It was a real learning experience for myself. I didn’t realize that feelings would be hurt. I put a lot of effort into recreating the image as closely as possible, because it was and as everyone will admit a really great shot. I have since acquired a 3D model of Ecto1 from a friend who works at UbiSoft in Montreal and will use that for all future reference.
I will be removing the image when I get home this evening and hope that Boomerjinks can forgive this transgression, and hope that he, or any GBfans member will hold no hard feelings towards me.

I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to act on this sooner. mrimagination has been nothing but considerate on GBfans thus far and he’s already apologized and removed the image, which personally I feel is a shame.

Seems like you were REALLY hoping to instigate things further. The nice thing to do here would be to say “Hey, I understand, we all make mistakes and all is forgiven.”
I was going to lock this thread but I’d like to give Boomerjinks a chance to show everyone that he’s not just here to troll people relentlessly.
Hell, maybe he’ll even say “I don’t mind if you re-post the image that you worked so hard on since it was really well done and obviously just a misunderstanding.”
