Slimer origin story?

I way behind on the recent comics but can anyone tell me if a Slimer origin story has ever been attempted?

Just curious.

Yes, but it was horrible.

In the Marvel UK comics for RGB, he was the ghost of “King Remils”.

I did not make that up.

And whoever did should be ashamed.

Alex

Indeed.

John Carnell appears to be the responsible writer.

In “real life” Slimer was a tribute to John Belushi.

In the Ghostbusters RPG produced in the late '80s by West End Games, Slimer was an accidental byproduct of cults holding rituals in the Sedgewick basement.

Which issue was that? I might be missing that issue.

#22. There a link to a write-up of it in my last post.

Here’s a direct one:

No, there’s been an attempt at an origin in the comics.

Aside from what everyone else said, on the record, Dan Aykroyd described him as as a vapor - “a kind of confluence of stored up psychic energy, an accumulation of spirits that haunt the hotel who doesn’t want to leave.” - page 64 of Making Ghostbusters. That could have been what the Ghostbusters RPG based theirs on. Considering the Cult of Gozer’s hand in the Sedgewick, I would speculate that Slimer was an indirect result of the Mandala system.

Yeah I missed that one. Only really starting buying them from 78 onwards.
