Traveling to work today I was in a serious vehicle accident. I was driving on I-70 and coming to the top of a mountain when a high gust of wind shook my little Ford Ranger. It had been snowing and this cross wind had been blowing across this spot all night (we had a wind advisory and winter storm warning in effect). As my truck shook from the wind, I began to slide on the black ice. I hit the median which was a hill bank, and I flipped my truck several times landing on my roof. I’ve been a Police Officer for 6 years and been on fatal accident scenes. I know better than most the importantance of driving reasonable speeds. I was probably going slower than most at 45mph. I had been passed by several cars on my trip and even seen a few cars in the median. I got 4 staples in my arm and some cuts and bruises but I walked away. Thank God I was wearing my seatbelt. I think I had a little help from above too.

Glad to hear you walked away sorta safely. Been there done that with a truck rollover. Lost a front wheel going 70 down the freeway. Truck went end over end a few times, finally landing in the median. Got out unscathed. My other past accidents not so much.

I’ve had about 4 near-fatal accidents, all of them on wintry roads. Never came that close though. You are lucky mate. Praise the divine powers. Drive slow, people.
