Oh… My… God! I bought an Xbox 360 because of 2 games: Ghostbusters and SC4. This game is freaking cool. I hate Star Wars… with a passion (that’ll be saved for a different thread), but I can overlook that aspect of the game for the rest of it. I now own all Soul Edge/Calibur games except the one on the Wii (I don’t have a wii, so…). I have so many hours of gameplay in. I have all the equipment, so right now I am on the long quest to obtain all the weapons… so expensive!
Character creation is gorgeous! It looks so much better than in 3, though you have less options. You do, however, get to alter the body shapes and looks of the characters. That means, for most fanbois, major boobage on the female characters lol.
Despite my utter love of this game (thus far my favorite in the series), there are a few things I dislike.
Created characters don’t get their own fighting style like in SC3. You just mimic one of the existing characters. Also, and this is a tiny gripe, when you make a female fighter, if you lower her physique down to 0, she loses her… chest… and looks like a 10 year old. I’m not a big fan of pedophile friendly games.
In arcade mode, you fight 8 stages. Darth Vader’s apprentice has always been #7 for me, with little to no variance, except when you play as him, then it’s Yoda. Anyway, being number 7, he’s actually harder to fight than the end guy. I attribute this to some fat-ass, pimple faced geek programmer who wanted top prove “Jedi are badasses.” It’s ridiculous how the computer cheats sometimes, especially with him. Also, he and Yoda do not fit into the storyline what-so-ever. I think they could’ve obtained more appropriate “crossover” characters like Cloud and Sephiroth, or someone like that.
Online play sucks goat nutz. You either can’t connect to a game, or you play the hardcore gamers that are even cheaper than fighting the Apprentice. I hate it and I have no fun, so I avoid online play as much as possible, though I have to go more to unlock the achievements
That’s more a complaint of gamers than the game itself, though. I have similar issues with Halo 3… can you people see the freaking future and know exactly where I’m going to go before I go there? The only thing that let’s me sleep at night is that I’ve kissed a girl before, so… lol j/k
And my biggest complaint: unless you get the $90 special edition in the tin box, you don’t get all the equipment. You are missing the business suit and schoolgirl uniforms. i mostly want the business suit. I’m not a big fan of schoolgirls… anyway, the point is, I like having ALL the options and these money grubbing jerks have to screw around with my OCD.
Overall, i rate this game 9/10. Despite my complaints, i’m haveing more fun playing this game that I have a lot of games. Ironically enough, I hate fighter games.
Just for fun, I made some Hulk related characters. i made Hulk, of course. But in his Green King gear from World War Hulk (well, the best approximation as I could get). His late queen Caiera the Oldstrong from Planet Hulk, their son Skaar, and She Hulk. Skaar looks the best, but he’s only wearing one article of clothing. It sucks to take them through sotry mode, because the fewer articles of clothing means the fewer skills and abilities you get. So, they’re my arcade characters.
