Sound and light help.

Hey everyone.

I am finally taking the plunge and making my own Proton Pack

I have ordered a kit from BenOfKent who I am local to, and I have only heard god things about his stuff. I need to obtain the electronics, which is not a strong point of mine. Looking at the GBFans shop, I think I have worked out what I need, would be really happy if soeone could either confirm I am correct or wrong!

So I think I need to get the ‘Amplified Sound Board’ along with the ‘Proton Gun / Wand Light Kit’ and ‘Power Cell and Cyclotron Light Kit’. I think thats the main stuff? Then I need the two ribbon cables to connect the two kits to the sound board? Hope I’m right and making sense so far!

The next thing I know I will need is a speaker so I would get the one from the store. Do people generally use just one speaker? Is it easy attach the speaker to the sound board? I assume I would need to get some speaker cable and solder it on?

The thing I am less sure about is powering everything. I notice the ‘12V 9800 mAh Battery Pack’ does not ship to the uk. Does anyone know of a UK version I can get over here? Or would I be best off getting the ‘9 Volt Battery Snap Connector’? Would one power everything or would I need more?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Really looking forward to getting started

Yes that is everything I purchased also. To connect a speaker you need speaker wire but you do not need to solder it. You just stick it into the terminals and tighten them down with a very small screwdriver. As far as the speaker goes, I’ve seen most people use a single 8 ohm speaker. I haven’t heard what that sounds like in person because I installed a single 6x9 4 ohm and it distorts at higher volume. Both the light and sound kits are very nice and extremely easy to use. All the connections are marked easily. As far as the battery goes, a 9v battery will not work. Go on ebay and find similar batteries to the one on gbfans. You will probably have to cut the male plug off the end of the battery to expose the positive and negative wires which also just insert into the board and screw down. I just finished my pack before Halloween and have had people stare in awe at how bad ass it really is. Hope this helps!

Great, thanks so much for replying. I shall order all those bits and look for a battery pack in the UK! Thanks

You can buy the blue brick battery on Ebay if you want that particular set-up. Alternatively CCTV batteries work great. I have a CCTV battery in my Stantz build

Awesome, I have my benofkent kit and most of the electronics now also (all GB fans ) I got a higher mah black brick and I’m not sure if its suitable  Unfortunately I haven’t had much time to build the kit since i got it but it is certainly of outstanding quality. And Ben’s customer service is phenomenal.
