Hey there fellow Ghostbuster fans, this probably might not be the best place to ask but I like it here and think with nice people/ ghostbusters fans its a pretty good start.
I’m doing sound design and recreating scenes from the first movie (gozer and stay puft) and even though i can get the proton sounds i wanted to do it from scratch. So does anyone have any ideas to create that sound or at least something similar??
That’s a task and a half! Proton pack sounds are something i thought of when designing my packs and i was considering using a motor of some kind to create a humming sound that you would expect to hear from a real life pack. The actual sound to me sounds like a large spinning drum similar to a washing machine on a spin cycle. This is what i assume the cyclotron was supposed to represent. If something spins from a starting point it would sound like a high pitched revolving part which then fades into a consistent drone. How you create this yourself is something way above my knowledge of sound waves and effects. I suggest playing with a keyboard on different preset sounds and experiment by trial and error. I’m guessing lots of people would like to hear the results so please post them up if you get anywhere. Good luck comrade!
first get the elmer bernstien ghostbusters score. sometimes u can find it on ebay, and some websites have it for download. use the cg’s from the movie where u see just the marshmallow man and gozer. recreate your own rooftop scene with your actors. im not sure if this is what u meant but it should work
ha ha cool cool nice one guys Ive got the score but the killer thing is that creepy prolonged tune that gets higher (where you get a peek of mr stay puft through the rooftops) just ain’t of the score.
For the sound effects I want to Foley as much as I possibly can so recreating them myself is pretty much top priority.
Ive tried the to record the spin cycles of dryers and washing machines which does seem to work a little but doesn’t have that one constant sound but more of a repetition haha.
The mystery continues. :walterpeck:
Oh them old Polaroid Kodak cameras that uses batteries that comes with the film, when you open it up it has a great proton sounding power up/buzz.
