I’ve been working on this for the past couple of weeks. With a few holes left in both the RGB line from Kenner back in the day and the Matty line now that it’s coming to a close, I decided to do some work myself and thought it was a good time to show something to the community now that I had something presentable. Here’s what I’ve got so far and I’m curious as to what you guys think.
My goal for the look is between an animated style and realism like Don Bluth or Dan Schoening, who I love for making GB’s in what is essentially my favorite animated style. This nimble 'lil minx should be sized well with the Matty GB’s and the Kenner figs (though slightly larger for them). She also has some arm movement for positioning.
Still needs some work to line out the hair and a few other details, but the bulk of the work is done. Also working on a base for her too. So what do you think?
I like it… and at the same time I dont like it… you obviously have mad skills, and I would love to see a matty-styled / movie version from you, but while I enjoy the comic art by dapper dan, im not digging it in the style of a statue/figure…
Wow. This looks like an actual prototype rather than a fan’s custom work. The quality that this figure has is amazing! Personally, I think it fits in perfectly with the RGB figures. I’m just blown away by how smooth the figure is and yet how crisp all the details of the face are. This looks like a legit figure!
Do you have plans doing more figures like the 4 guys in the Dapper Dan style, or are you just going to stick with the figures missed by Matty and Kenner?
Have you given any thought to doing Tony Scolari if he’s not included with the 4th and final 2012 figure? Or perhaps a Janine?
WOW. I’m a huge fan of traditional characters in animated formats, and this is just stunning. I’m always a little (lot) jealous of those that can sculpt like that!
Not much else to say that hasn’t been said, but I would love to see ANY other GB character done in the same style.
Thanks everyone, I’ll be posting some new pics soon with a bit more done on her.
Sure have. In fact I was going to start with Tony, but decided to wait until the last Matty figure was revealed before I started that one, with my small hopes that they would make one. Janine is one I have sketched out and hope to start on next. I started with Goz because the body is somewhat simpler. I’ve wanted a nice Janine for a while though and I know a lot of others have too.
Thanks. I loved Samurai Jack and when he took on the clone wars, I was blown away.
Thanks Joe, stay tuned because there’s some stuff coming I think you’ll enjoy
I’m liking the base big time. Did you extrapolate the size to match the one that’s coming with the Zuul figure or just wing it? Also will you leave it as is or add on the sculpted gargoyle legs?
I was just kind of winging the base but the one from Matty looks a bit on the small side so I thought I’d try for something a bit bigger. I’ve been going back and forth on doing the gargoyles for the table legs. Part of me says go for it but my inner slacker is saying leave it as is. Somehow, it probably won’t feel finished without the legs though
Wow! Can’t believe this is fan made, I would happily fork out for a full line of these if they went into production, it’s definately original -amazing work
