Spring on Stomp pedal

Hi everyone Im in teh middle of making the stomp pedal for the movie ghost trap. What is the spring under the pedal and where can I get it from? Thanks

I ripped mine from a soldering iron stand. I happened to see one where I buy my electronics stuff for packs/guns/traps, and thought, “Hmmm…that might work.” And sure enough, it did. Here’s a pic of one that’s similar:

If you happen to go this route, what you will need to do is take it off the stand, snap the black plastic off the top, cut about 3-4 rings from the top (I did so with a dremel), and then bend the little post at the bottom (with the loop), so that it’s at a 90 degree angle from the spring. That works great as a mounting peg- slip a wood screw through it, and mount it to the pedal base, it will keep the spring from sliding when you stomp on the pedal.

If you can’t find a soldering stand, then you might try a bed spring. Like from an old set of box springs, maybe in a junkyard or someplace. (That’s what I had been thinking prior to finding the soldering spring) By the way- the stand will set you back about $5, so you will have to decide whether it’s worth it or not.

Are you looking strictly for a spring to rebound it? Or to use as the spring / hose covering that is under the pedal?

I actually found a remote control off-road truck at a garage sale for $1. I took it apart and used one of the springs from the suspension and the mounting pegs for it as a return spring. For the springy looking sleeve I used 2 1/4" air duct hose I bought at a local auto parts store (Auto Zone, I think.)
