Starting on a New Ghost Trap

With all the kits that appear to be springing up.. I wanted to go all out and make my own Ghost Trap from scratch. I just started working on the inner ‘cartridge’ and just got done with the main shape of it. Everything turned out spot on, every dimension exactly how I wanted it.

I will be doing a hero style trap, with a lot of metal construction, as well as well engineered pieces that will fit together perfectly… hopefully! As well as removeable cartridge and some smoke effects via a water fountain setup inside of it. (it will be for display only..)

Will get pics soon.. this will be my first real prop in a long time.

can’t wait to see some pics! keep us updated

If your interested I have an unused set of metal plates and resin parts I got from Irricanian, since i just ordered a whole resin trap kit. Let me know if you are intersted

I’ve already got the metal for the parts. Thanks though!

I love working on this stuff again. I am finding unlike years ago, I finally have the tools and talent to make something good with minimal screw ups. I am using my own Plans to make the trap, and had a little measurement mixup on the trap cassette. Rather than hack off the whole front or start over like I would used to do… I threw it on the milling machine and took off a little more.. and then glued on a properly sized strip. It fixed the problem, and made everything straighter.. I love doing that stuff.

I also made the top part of the cassette.. you will see how I am doing it when I post pictures soon. But I cut out the part with the band saw and then again placed it in the mill and cut out the center… perfect every time I tells you! This trap is going to be great!

(I have never finished a trap that I have started.. so I am excited…)

Yeah, can’t wait to see pics man.

I Just started mine yesterday and got excited when I saw the shape of the outer shell come together. Feels like when I first started building the pack.

Here is a picture from yesterday afternoon.

Yes.. that is “Key Lime Green”.

The “Fronts Piece” is also done and looks amazing. Everything fits together perfectly.

Wow, that does look amazing, very professional

Wow! That is looking great AJ. I am digging the side vents on it. I can see you didn’t forget to include the the most imprtant part of the project… Are you living the “High life?” Miller Brand of coarse… Keep the pics coming. It’s gonna be awesome!

BAHAHAHA

My secret is out.

Here is the “fronts piece” that I’ve been working on yesterday. I am really happy with how it turned out. It is designed to be cast.. hallow.. and that flat peice actually goes inside the cassette. After resin casting, it will be fused with resin to the cassette as if it were all one piece.

You didn’t think I wasn’t going to cast it… did you!?

A little trimming, and they will be perfect. Now to cast the fronts piece in silicone.

(NOTE: These are not for sale.)

damn sweet job so far! cant wait to see more.

So, were the salt and pepper shakers intrigral in your creation of this? lol

This is shaping up nicely!

Looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

nice so far. You have a milling machine? Band saw? wow, you can make some serious props with that. I tend to gnaw through things with my teeth. : P

I cast the frontspiece in silicone and then made a quick cast.

I need to clean up the silicone mold a little bit to ensure that there isn’t overlapping and flash as seen on the one that is here. I’m going to end up making 4 traps.
