I was wondering if you guys could help me identify a suit that I found at a local army navy store. I took some pictures since I’m not overly versed on the suits myself.
The suit was priced at 49.99 CAD and I was just wondering if it was a Rothco or not.
it’s not a rothco, it’s probably a nomex.
Not Rothco. Rothco’s are more of a yellow-ish color in certain light than khaki; and their tags are different. My black flightsuit is a Roth.
Looks like a Nomex suit to me.
That’s the usual price tag and your best alternative to the $200 Gibson and Barnes.
That is a typical military “surplus” flight suit. It is the correct model you are looking for. I have that same suit. It lacks the side entry zippers that the on screen suits had though.
i disagree. the avirex/cockpitusa is the best alternative to a gibson and barnes, as i’ve hounded both vinny’s to confirm that it would be a really good subsitute to G&B and the nomex.
off the rack? nomex is fine. but if you want the best, but not paying the price of the best, avirex is the way to go.

Awesome, I’ve been wanting to get a new suit and I’ve been researching the avirex (on one of the threads here) and that makes me more confident in buying it.
i love my avirex, i couldnt get any other kind after wearing this one because they wont compare.
I may have to pick one up for my GB2 uniform
their colors are khaki or black.
Are those mesurements provided on the link you posted for chest or waist. . .?

Im sure the decision has been made by now. But if it helps any I have that exact same suit. It ended up setting me back 75.00 but every other suit rode up or had too short of sleeves. This thing is so comfy I absolutely love it!
I have a similar suite. I think it only cost me $25 at a military surplus store.
i’m lookiing at a suit at my local army surplus store and i found two but they both have patches and that on the shoulders and such. i’m still gonna pick one of them up and have my sis in law take all the extra patches off tha i don’t need on it since she is a seamstriss.
Use a seam ripper and you can do it your self.

knowing my luck i would totally wreck it. that’s why i am gonna have my sis in law do it for me. i see them everyday so it would be my best bet to let her do it. thanks for the advice tho. it’s only like 40 buck for the suit also so i figured that’s not a bad price. plus they have an alice pack fram there for 16 bucks. really thinking about picking that up also as i have straps and kidney belts already from other back packs. and after seeing the pack frame i’m starting to think that this frame could be made by using copper tubeing. i could be wrong tho.
