I just stumbled on to the site, and would like to share that the original sign from Ghostbusters II is currently at FDNY Ladder 8, which served as the HQ for the Ghostbusters in both films. Ladder 8 is at W Broadway and N Moore in Tribeca. They even sell t-shirts with a fire fighting version of the Ghostbusters logo with the money going to FDNY burn charities.
I saw the sign while biking last summer, but I wouldn’t have seen if if the garage door to the station wasn’t open.
It’s actually the corner of Varrick and N.Moore, and Subway stop for Franklin Street.
It’s been fairly well known for now that a portion of the sign had been installed in the Firehouse, the Ladder #8 batallion even used it on the Ladder #8 truck for a period, before keeping it to the T-shirts.
I hope I can pick up one of those shirts when I visit the city in March.
My dad and sister went to New York back in October. They went to the Fire House to take pictures and one of the firemen let them in to take pictures of the sign hanging on the wall. But the fireman didn’t mention anything about selling t-shirts. Obviousely, they were Ghostbuster fans, you’d have thought he would have mentioned the shirts. That leads me to wonder if they are even still selling them… I hope so, I’d like to have one.
On another New York note, my dad and sister also went to Planet Hollywood and all that was left on display was Slimer… But that might be old news, I just hadn’t heard anybody mention it yet.
A friend of mine makes regular trips to Manhattan as he lives in Brooklyn, he gave me the impression Hook and Ladder #8 were still selling the ‘ghost fighter’ T-Shirts.
Sadly, there’s been no update on a return of the props, which deserve to be showcased in New York. It seems that the only thing left is indeed, that Slimer prop, and there’s mutterings that it might not even be original.
Kingpin, I hope you are right about them still selling the shirts at the firehouse. The guy my dad and sister talked to might have been new to the station or something and was just unaware of the shirts.
Yeah, it would be nice if they returned the Ghostbuster props to that Planet Hollywood… I don’t know if it replaced the GB stuff or not, but apperantly one of the main displays has some dress’ worn by Jennifer Lopez in a movie filmed in New York. BFD! Unless J. LO herself is wearing the dress’ in the display case  I say bring back the packs!
