JayTigran and JoeGhostbuster will be heading up the Minimates Section.
Lets use this topic to discuss the development of the section.
The first would be that it needs a total overhaul with all the new Minimates being released. How should the section be organized?
I would split it up as follows
4-Packs: 4-Pack 1, 4-Pack 2, 4-Pack 3, etc
TrU Excl: Wave 1, Wave 2, etc
Other Excl: SDCC, DST, etc
show a little interest in something and BAM! AJ makes me co-head of the minimates section LOL - any suggestions would be great as Ive never headed up any of the sections here and have no idea how to go about updating my section… I have a ton of pics, but what info should be listed?
I aim to make GBFans the most comprehensive website ever. It should literally have every bit of info about every possible thing for the Minimates.
Currently the section is organized as:
Minimates: Ray Stantz - http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/ray-stantz/
Minimates: Egon Spengler - http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/egon-spengler/
Minimates: Peter Venkman - http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/peter-venkman/
Minimates: Winston Zeddemore - http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/winston-zeddemore/
Minimates: Gozer - http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/gozer/
Minimates: Dana Barrett - http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/dana-barrett/
Minimates: Louis Tully - http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/louis-tully/
Minimates: Slimer - http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/slimer/
Minimates: Stay Puft Marshmallow Man - http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/stay-puft/
Minimates: Terror Dog - http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/terror-dog/
And since they have released a ton of varients and waves this format will no longer do.
do I need any kind of html knowledge? or is it basically “add new page” - “edit page”, type information, “add photo(s)” etc ? I did take an html course about 6 years ago but I dont remember any of it…
edit: I just took a peek, it looks pretty straight-forward as far as editing goes - if Jay can pipe in with his suggestions I can get started on this over the weekend…
I am the only one capable of Adding Pages.
So I will need to do that before any major work can be done.
I would suggest doing a page for each set, like I have it laid out on my checklist, since thats the main method of buying the figures (and individual loose figures are only available via ebay) - one page for each set with multiple photos (photo of figures in package, DST/AAproduction photos & blueprints, photos of figures posed etc) and information… release date, where it was available, original price and how much its worth now that some are out of production (I think, maybe they’re just out-of-stock)
or we could do one page for each figure, and list which set(s) it was available with since there were dupes - but then I dont know how you would classify the information for the sets since each set wouldnt have its own page… I guess while youre listing what set(s) that particular figure was available with, THEN you could list release date, price etc
can the main page (http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/) have pictures? we should use the mimimate “poster” graphic for the main page, unless Jay or I come up with a cooler graphic…
what do you think AJ / Jay?
I like Joes 1st idea…basically what I was suggesting
seperate by how they are purchased
I’ll be making a poster this evening maybe…
The main Minimate page is located here:
http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/
I wouldn’t make the whole page a graphic… but it certainly could be laid out like a checklist where you have a picture and then a link to the more detailed pages.
How would you setup the links?
There can only be two more levels after the Minimates. So it could go:
/toys/minimates/something/something/
Like:
http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/toys-r-us/wave-1/
http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/toys-r-us/wave-2/
http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/series-1/
http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/series-2/
etc.
Do they have to get more detailed past that?
http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/toys-r-us/wave-1/
that works
http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/series-1/
I assume that would be for the 4-packs
so then we would need a :
http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/misc/
this would be for the SDCC GB2 Peter/GlowingStayPuft, SDCC 25th anniversary Blank, DST GB2Ray/GlowingSlimer, etc…
Those could have their own sections under the Minimates parent category.
So two additional sections?
http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/sdcc/ or ??
http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/px/ or ??
Nah, I think keeping these in a misc section will save the amount of pages and clicking
mainly cuz the SDCC only has 3 mates, and the DST as of now only has the 1 2-pack, we can combine them and add any other little misc exclusives to that page
So do we want like a introductory postery page type thing? I can make up something tonight if so
and if so, AJ, what size would you like it to be?
I don’t want a graphic of poster looking thing to replace the main page.
Look at how it is now:
http://www.gbfans.com/toys/minimates/
I would just take it and expand on it. Once the sections are up (in a few hours) you can start to link to those and add images there.
Ok, sounds good :whatever:
I’d like to also let you guys be the first to know that I am in final negotiations with Diamond Select Comics to become a supplier of Ghostbusters Minimates and other things. Hopefully everything works out!
Oh, do you want a watermark or something on the pics of the minis taken specificially for the sections?
A little GBF or something in the corner maybe?
I dunno…that’s why I’m asking. It’s your site and I wanna play by the rules
No watermarks are required. (I can’t remember if it adds them automatically or not.. probably not)
Just make sure you upload them using the Image Upload tool that you see when you are editing a page.
will do…
now are there size requirments or will the uploader auto-resize?
It auto resizes and gives the code to insert them.
