Sound off if your nerdery extends beyond the GB films and you keep up with other monthly comics. Who picked up Spider-Man 698 this morning and what do you think about it?

i picked up 698 because some handsome devil told me to grab one. i cant stand spiderman, but i can understand a “holy shit” moment when i see one. i might even get 699-700 to see if it’s sticking unlike the last 3 times spiderman died.
as for what i read: i read alot of dc until new 52; because i was so depressed with that i stopped reading comics all together. i spent so many years just eating everything up that had to do with booster gold, to fizzle him out like they did, i didnt want to become a fan of another series at another company(i severed dc until it’s current regime of crap goes away) to end up like that. i felt so betrayed by dc, and i’m not alone thinking that way. i do keep up with the walking dead trades as much as i can, im on 15 now.
What we know for sure so far is that #700 is the final issue of the books 50 year run. In January they’re launching “Superior Spider-Man” and just the title alone kinda leads us to believe that this is permanent (as permanent as anything in Marvel or DC anyways).
Nerds.

I’ve thrown myself headlong back into the Transformers fandom and I’m catching up on More Than Meets The Eye and the spotlights.
MTMTE hits you pretty hard man. Right in the feels.
The first issue of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was actually REALLY good. The art style is very fluid and over exaggerated. It adds a darker tone to the whole thing, not to mention some of the neat cameos (Hooves Brothers, anyone?). The writing is pretty neat and allows for more risks and darker tones than the cartoon series does. I’d say give the first issue a shot and if that doesn’t grab your attention then I don’t know what will. It’s perfect for folks who like their cute with a dash of unsettling creepiness like I do.
You mean the part with Negan’s bat? Shocked the hell outta me. And here I was thinking that what happened to Carl’s face was over the top Kirkman pulls another fast one on me. This book just keeps getting more intense.
Just a few quick comments on some comics I’ve been reading:
I just started reading the Walking Dead books (up to vol.6), I gotta say they are way more brutal than the TV show!
Folks were telling me how different they were but I had no idea it would be this different.
There’s no Daryl (yet, but I hope he shows up)
The fight that just took place between Michonne and the Governor was waay more intense and brutal.
Rick seems to be more willing to kill people the books than in the TV show.
I could go on, but most of you know what I’m talking about
I also just finished the Star Trek:TNG/ Doctor Who series “assimilation” .
While I enjoyed the story the artwork left something to be desired in my opinion, just didn’t look right to me. it looked like they took photos, spliced them together and colored them to look like comic panels.
They also featured Guinan in the books who knew about the time lords (even though they came from a separate dimension, the TARDIS was ripped from the time vortex and ended up there) I was surprised that such an event would bring Q into the mix even for a cameo. The interaction between Guinan and the Doctor whoever suggested she was the Star Trek’s universes’ version of a Time Lord.
Along those lines does anyone have any info on the DW comic series that starts this month from IDW for the 50th anniversary?
From what I understand each month will feature a different regeneration of the Doctor in a storyline that will tie them all together.
