Anybody remember that series? Starred Patrick Warburton as The Tick.. I had never watched it when it aired on TV - and only recently purchased the complete set on DVD - apparently it had a huge fanbase before FOX decided it was doing too well and decided to cancel it..
Some sources on the net said that Patrick Warburton literally went to FOX and fought with them ruthlessly to get the series back on the air.. and now in the DVD commentary it states that the future of this series is based on how many DVD sales they can get.. apparently if they get enough copies of the DVD sold they will be making a movie.
Oy… I hated this show. It should have been retitled “The Captain Liberty and Batmanuel Show with guest appearances by the Tick and Arthur.” If you’re going to title a show after a super hero, it’s a good idea to make him the focus of the show.
That, and it wasn’t nearly as funny as the cartoon. Which I adore and still regard as one of the best animated series ever created.
i loved that show. its the main source of my animosity towards andy richter, because fox pushed his unfunny show far more than the gem that the tick was.
I love this show! I own the original tick cowl Patrick Warburton wore in the series. I always hated Fox for cancelling this show. I thought it was just a great take on super heros with tick and arthur. Almost like “no heroics” in the bbc. good stuff!
I somewhat agree with you that Captain Liberty and Bat Manuel seemed to get a bit more air time than The Tick and Arthur.. but I disagree that it wasn’t as funny as the cartoon.. to be honest I found this series 10 times funnier than the cartoon (and yes I have the cartoon on DVD also)
What what?! They already have a DVD set of the series? Danm, I really need to check out Best Buy or something soon and get me a copy. I loved that big blue bug. Hope they do sell enough, A Tick movie and comeback would kick magor butt =]
I found my copy at Wal-Mart on one of their end cap DVD racks for $14.99.. I’d check out any Wal-Mart stores - generally because they are vender run by venders who follow certain DVD guidelines when supplying the stores - your best bet to locate a copy is at Wal-Mart.
Wal mart huh? Thanks, I’ll check that out soon. Just glad there’s about three different ones within about a 20 min. drive from the house. I doubt all three wouldn’t have atleast one copy on the self left ^_^;
I love the Tick since it’s comic beginnings. And as for the live action I adored seeing it come to life. To say that it was funnier then the cartoon is wrong because Ben Edlund who created the tick wrote for both shows to keep his property true to form. It’s one of the reasons why the cartoon was canceled..fox wanted it more kid friendly…Fox has had beef with him for years and since he is a head writer for Joss Whedon alot he gets crapped on as well. Angel Buffy all have stuff written from the creator of the Tick.I miss it and wish it would get a movie.
If you can’t find a copy - lemme know and I’ll try to pick you up a copy.. everytime I’ve walked into the Wal-Mart store there has been about 10 copies just sitting on the shelf.. lol
