AARGH!!! Decided to go round my parents and get into their loft to re-claim my Real Ghostbusters comic collection that i collected as a kid and guess what… they said they threw them out a few years ago along with the figures and all my old Star Wars stuff.
Im pretty damn sure i had **all **of the RGB comics too!!! couple of annuals, sticker album, waaaa!!!
Svee goes to sulk in the corner of the room for a while
I know it hurts to have lost those comics, as well as the toys and Star Wars stuff… but one saving grace is that the UK Real Ghostbusters comics are rather rubbish compared to the American ones.
Hope you’re able to rebuild your collection with eBay.
I can certainly share your pain, as my KennerGhost Traps, PKE and Proton Pack met their end with the dustbin many years back… I just wish parents would ask us before throwing the stuff out.
That’s okay mate - when I was a little one, my mother went thru our toys once a year and gave away the stuff to charity… the toys that weren’t “played with”… so I lost all my collection of Ghostbusters, SuperPowers, He-Man, ThunderCats, Ninja Turtles, Batman, etc.
I’m sorry to hear about that. I lost my collection between various moves and my grandma stealing stuff from my family. I have a few of things from my original GB collection.
My Bestie’s six year old cousin’s mother waited until she was at school, THEN DONATED HER HALLOWEEN CANDY and left her three pieces. Then she got two Barbies and stuff for her bday, and her parents thought that they should DONATE HALF HER BIRTHDAY PRESENTS!!!
That’s mean!!! Mean Mean mean!!! Why would you take your kids toys away!!! It’s like those people that let their kids look at the toys at the store and then don’t buy them anything. It’s awful! My children will be spoiled won’t they! I don’t care! LOL
Dude, that really sucks. Sorry to hear about that. I guess I’m pretty lucky - not only would my parents NOT throw out my GB stuff cuz they know better, my mom has actually bought me several Kenner figures off of ebay. But she DID throw out all my Batman and Jurassic Park toys (I had a LOT of JP toys), so I can certainly feel your pain. When I was younger I also had a badass Slimer beach towel which my little sister’s friend stole, and subsequently lost in the women’s dressing room. I was super devastated for days after.
My folks did the same thing. If I remember right, I had all the RGB toys , along with the old TMNT, and power rangers stuff. They put all my stuff in a sale while I was at camp.
My grandmother was a bit “off”, and every once in awhile she would get it in her head to pack up a bunch of stuff (invariably, always items that someone else in the family gave a ■■■■ about) and ship it off to some relatives in Michigan nobody else in the family had heard of. The last round of this when I was about 10 included a lot of my RGB toys; among them my proton pack, homemade uniform, goggles and trap (we were in the midst of an interstate move, and mom thought the attic would be a safe place to store some stuff for a week or two). Mom was madder than I was, mainly about the uniform which took about a week of work.
my mom threw away my Ghostbusters and Pee-Wee’s Playhouse toys and convinced me to give away my Masters of the Universe to a kid whose house burnt down. At least I lost the latter for a good deed.
Fortunately my parents kept it all and now my son can enjoy the toys. The downside is, many things are broken, especially the coolest stuff (like the trap).
