Ghostbusters: The Video Game was mentioned on the front page of the newest issue of Variety Entertainment News. Apparently the Ghostbusters / Activision debacle was big enough to make it on the desks of all of Hollywood. Thankfully, as Troy Benjamin puts it, the exposure to some of industries big names will get it picked up and published even sooner. The article mentions that the game is being shopped around to different publishers, and will most likely be delayed until 2009 to coincide with the Blu-Ray release of Ghostbusters for it’s 25th Anniversary. (Which as we have heard from SPHE, the Blu-Ray due out in October is delayed as well).
Obsessed video gaming blog Kotaku recieved a copy of Ghostbusters: The Video Game demo, despite the news of its delay. Their site reveals a few weapons / weapon modes included in the game (perhaps without realizing it) such as: The Blast Stream, Capture Stream, Boson Darts, and possibily Dark Matter Weapons. We just want to point out that the copy of the game demo was from July 16th… well before any indication of problems from Activision.
Dread Central, a horror movie releated news blog, reports that Ghostbusters 3 will be made using characters from the cast of The 40 Year Old Virgin (Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Romany Malco, & Seth Rogan). The story was also picked up by larger sites Digital Spy, Film Junk, Screen Rant, Trillion Movies… and more!
Thankfully, Ghostbusters Fans, and Slashfilm can see through the completely made up rumor and see that those actors were chosen as a part of the Proton Charging ID Badge Contest held back in May. While we would love to see another movie comprised of those hillarious actors, it just isn’t happening right now. Special word goes out to joeghostbuster who may have started this whole fiasco with his awesome rendering of the guys in the GB Uniforms (shown above).
Lastly word goes out to Xenepp’s site Gamernator which rumors that one of the reasons Ghostbusters: The Video Game is being delayed is due to a particular actors rediculous demands when it comes to the profit sharing from the video game. While it might not be true, we can atleast visualize it.. and that’s good enough.

…What the Hell? Are you serious? So some MAJOR web sites actually picked up the story about the 40 Year Old Virgin cast starring in a new Ghostbusters movie even though it was just a stupid rumor? That’s pretty pathetic, actually. How could major, credible websites be fooled by a baseless rumor?
It’s reportedly been mentioned on a British radio program… so it looks like we may not have seen the worst this new rumor is yet to cause… better batton down the hatches, everyone.
How could something like this happen? Respectable news sites, radio programs, etc. usually make sure to check their sources on this kind of thing. This kind of p*$$e$ me off because when I see something like this, it almost makes me think it is true when reputable sites are reporting it. I’m sick of hearing these rumors only for them to be just that. I mean, I am used to their being a lot of stupid rumors about Ghostbusters 3, but usually they never get picked up by major web sites because they are just baseless rumors.

The worst part about all of this is that this is right around the Halloween rush…we always get those GB3 people who are convinced that the movie is coming out…this is just like throwing fuel on the fire…I’m definatly not looking forward to the next months here on the boards just because I can see an influx of new people wanting to post the " latest rumor" that their brothers, cousins, sisters, best friend, hairstylist friend to the second cousin of the mayors first cousins brother of bill murray and why he plans to blame rick morranis for his greed
