Trap - Screws?

What are the correct size screws for the Metal plating ?

Cheers guys

Andy, PM sent

#10 Allen head cap screws for the two large side plates and front plate (length 1/4" +)

OR

#10 Button head Allen screws for the GB1 style (length 1/4" +)

#8 Allen head cap screws for the two small squre side plates (length 1/4"- 3/8" +)

#6 Allen head cap screws for the Vector plate (length 1/4"- 3/8" +)

6 Button head Allen screws for the forward indicator and rear battery box top (length 1/4"- 3/8" +)

Length will really depend on your trap wall thickness, ie: if you made your trap from 1/4" materials then with the 1/8" thick plates a 1/4" bolt would do so as not to protude into the cartridge area.

I was thinking of doing up bolt kits to go with the trap plate sets I sell, would there be any interest in that? I know finding bolts can be challenging for some people depending on where you live and what stores you have access to

:slight_smile: cheers !

I have to disagree with those sizes, at least for GB1 traps. The vector and smaller plates are held on with #4 socket cap screws, and the large plates are held on with #6 button cap screws.

Hmm Im bit confused trying to work out the sizes in UK

Hmm, metric doesn’t translate to imperial exactly

ie:

Screw Size Dec.

Equiv

M1.6 =0.062

M2 =0.078

M2.5 =0.098

M2.6 =0.102

M3 =0.118

M4 =0.157

M5 =0.196

M6 =0.236

M8 =0.315

M10 =0.393

M12 =0.472

M14 =0.551

M16 =0.629

M18 =0.708

M20 =0.787

M24 =0.944

M30 =1.181

All sorted and ordered

Thanks guys!

#4 seems awfully small, I’d be more inclined to say #6 for the smaller plates and #8 for the large ones on the GB1 trap

You can use the Vector plate as a size guide for them. The ones holding it on are smaller than the large fins (for lack of a better word) don’t breach the sides on the GB1 hero traps (I’ve not researched the stunt traps) as they do on the GB2 stunt traps, which also use a different Vector plate. The #4 screw is the largest one that won’t breach the sides of the large ‘fin’, see my somewhat crappy pic of a test I had done.

And the a GB1 hero trap:

The scaling on those hero trap photos as well as HD screen caps from GB1 also match up to the dimensions of #4 screws (#6 button head on the corners).

I agree #4 fo sho

Hehe… I was looking at that, and thinking “Those look wrong. They’re too small. No wait, the knob is missing. Maybe that’s what’s giving it that appearance. I’ll have to check the reference material.”

And then I realised I was looking at reference photo of a trap from the movie. :walterpeck:
