That, or the striping is something that’s been repaired and replaced over time.
It is amazing how many times props from movies and TV shows get recycled, especially when you consider how after some movies they will just throw away thousands of dollars worth of sets and the like
but like has been mentioned since a prop company owns these and not Sony or Columbia itself, that explains why they get recycled so much, lol
would be interesting to see how much the rentals cost, probably way too high for an ordinary person to rent, and they probably would not rent them to individuals anyway, but if you could rent them, then you could possibly do casts of them or at least in-depth studies on them

The Ghostbusters II props known as Pyschic Disturbance Neutralizers were seen briefly during the montage sequence during Ghostbusters II. Sometimes also referred to as tripod traps because of the yellow and black caution stripes around the plex tubing that is also common on the Ghost Trap. Since they were rental props they also appeared in several other programs inculding:
Star Trek The Next Generation
Lois And Clark- The New Adventures Of Superman
Seaquest DSV

Here’s some pictures I took some time back of the the original props:
The upper part of these tripods were V-ring meters. V-ring meters were made for tuning airplane antennas and were made by the Scanwell Laboratories:
The main body was gutted but the meter was left. Just below the meter a three position toggle switch was added. Above the meter is a black frame that was retained and a red lense was added inside this lens a ten segment L.E.D. display was added, when turned on this sequences back and forth. On the right side a small black rectangular project enclosure, trimmed at an angle was added. on this box is a small green indicator lamp and a black coiled cord that attaches to a light on the upper plate. On the other side a larger project box was added again trimmed at an angle and a number painted on it. Again a coiled cord was added that runs up to another indicator light. On the back side a simple cord hook made from a piece of metal stock bent in a near S shape. The main power cord simply goes into the rear panel.
The tube was removed and replaced with a 3" acrylic tube lined with a translucent yellow and black striped piece of plastic. Lights were placed in the tube to illuminate it when in use. The upper plate was flipped from its stock position and two lights, which were mentioned earlier, were added that also light when in use. On top of the acrylic tube a cap made from the top of the original metal tube was placed. Just above this cap was placed a rubber boot and on to this boot a round disk made of metal.
Placed in a circle, three camera ball mounts were attached with telescoping metal antennas capped with bi-pin light bulbs and holders. In the movie the bulbs in these antennas would light as the tripods neutralized the phscyhic energy with in the room. This scene comes to a humorous conclusion when the energy is neutralized and the expensive crystals come crashing down distroying the glass cases directly below.
The Tripod were simple unmodified camera tripods made by Veldon attached to the bottom.

Yep, those pictures of the V-ring meter are of my two V-ring meters. There is also atleast one scratch build on this site.
